Recommend your favorite resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico
Am looking for an all-inclusive resort that's luxurious but not super expensive and will allow kids. Prefer the Riviera Maya/Playa del Carmen area of Mexico.

I haven't actually stayed here but we have seen it several times and it looks really nice: It's right on the beach in downtown PDC. A lot of the other resorts are several miles from downtown area.

you might want to adjust your title to include riviera maya as well as PDC (the actual TOWN) doesn't have a ton of AIs-RM has a lot.
the royal playa del carmen gets consistantly good reviews on here.
We stayed at the Royal, which is the adults-only sister property across the street. We loved it, and I have heard great things about the Gran Porto Real. There are also a ton of resorts in the Playacar area in PDC. We did a bike tour past many of them.
I haven't stayed there yet, but we are getting married in November at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. They are more of a moderately priced resort and allow children.
HIGHLY recommend the Royal Hideaway!!!
my brother and sister in law stayed at Riu once and they loved it there too
