I need some clothing help

I have 27 pounds to lose (yes, I gained 60 with the twins). I don't see this weight coming off as fast as I hoped due to lack of sleep, and I can't just wear yoga pants and a t shirt for the next few months.  So I need some basic pieces that will get me by.  Just casual stuff that I can look somewhat cute in when I actually leave the house.

Any advice?  I hate shopping and just want to point and click but have no idea what size I would be.  I'm afraid to find out.

  • Don't make me walk around naked, you don't want to see that mess.

  • For me, 27 pounds would equate to 2 to 3 sizes. So if you were a 4, I would start by looking at 8s and 10s. In your shoes, I would probably buy 2 pairs of cheapish black pants, 2 pair of cheapish jeans and whatever types of tops work for bfing. I know you hate shopping at the Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx kind of places, but that's what I would do since you want semi disposable.

  • I know this is easier said than done with newborn twins, but you might be better off biting the bullet, and going to a store to try stuff on.  Even if you can just get to target for half an hour, try on a bunch of different sizes and cuts to see what works for you now.

Once you have an idea, buy online from places with free returns. I would go for basics like jeans and black pants, and splurge on some fun accessories to dress things up.  Necklaces, handbags and shoes look good no matter what size you are, and they'll help you to feel put together, even if your actual clothing is simple.

How do you know me so well?  Good news/bad news is I don't need BF tops.  Unfortunately, I never produced enough milk.  I'm sad about it, but at least I tried.

  • Get some layers so you can hide your poochiness. I felt like a shlub after Dagger and that helped to have some flowy vest type things over shirts.

Old Navy and Gap are cheap and have easy returns so that could be a good online ordering option for you.

  • I love clothes from Lucy - a wee bit pricey, but they are comfortable and get me through my heavier times (like right now).

I've seen you so I had a pretty good guess as to your size. And I watched you shop at the craft fair.

  • I don't know when I'll be back down, but I am looking for any excuse. My Grandma asked me the same thing yesterday. She was thinking she'd visit San Diego while I was there for work. Of course, she wants to meet her sisters down there so it would be [slightly] grumpy old ladies on parade, but give my Grandma a beer or a margarita and she'll be your BFF. Don't steal my Grandma.

Oh, I'm all over hanging with Grams as long as she likes babies.

  • I can't promise she likes crying babies, but regular babies she can handle. Especially the cute ones.

  • Fortunately mine don't cry unless they are hungry.  One of them grunts quite a bit though.
