A first date in over a year (an aww...)

I began an eHarmony account by the suggestion of a girlfriend at the beginning of January.  I've had interaction with several guys, but not to the point of meeting.  Out of curiosity, mostly because of the trainwreck stories I've heard here, I began a POF account last Wednesday.  I had 87 messages within my first 24 hours and began messaging with 4 different guys.

One was particularly interesting, very intelligent and our communication was very witty.  He's new to my city also and by Thursday he had asked me to dinner for Saturday night.  His pictures were cute, but most were taken from far away so it was hard to tell.  I suggested drinks first and he chose a place that unfortunately didn't end up working out so upon his arrival we drove in his car to the restaurant which was very near.  He was way cuter in person and such a gentleman!

We sat at the bar until our table was ready and the conversation never quit!  We were laughing and telling stories and joking and it just felt so easy!  It's a sushi restaurant I had been to before and he was more than pleased with my recommendation.  We shared everything and by the time we were finishing he told me he wasn't ready for our date to end.  I agreed, even though I had plans to meet some girlfriends, and I suggested a really neat bier garten nearby because he's obsessed with craft beers.

We only had one beer there before he suggested a wine bar he had driven by on his way to our date and we agreed to go there because we were still having such a great time.  He was so complimentary and sweet and engaged it was so much fun!  We met again yesterday for brunch and had another amazing time laughing and being silly!

I just had to aww!  He goes out of town often for work and is leaving on Tuesday for the rest of the week.  I'm hopeful about the dating scene and feel like this is a good way to get my feet wet and maybe keep me distracted from the ex!

  • Sounds like it was fun!

Don't wanna be a negative nancy.. but I have to say it! Next time you probably shouldn't get in someone's car who you don't know, you could have easily followed him there.

  • You're right calle... in hindsight, while I was typing the post actually I realized that would have been the smartest idea, but I didn't get hacked into little pieces and left for the buzzards and next time I will take my own car to err on the side of caution.
