How was your weekend?

Mine was really special.  Had the regional track meet Saturday and our kids had some awesome performances.  By the time the meet was over, my oldest friend, her mom, my mom and my sister had gotten to town (coming from DC, Chicago and Philly).  We went to dinner and played board games all night.  THen had a big sleepover at my house!

Sunday, my BFF arrived and joined the group for brunch, and Sunday afternoon was my first baby shower.  It was so fun to visit with sweet friends and everyone was way too generous.  Had fun playing with the stuff with DH after we got home last night.

What were you up to?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • Weekend went good, worked out, went out to eat bbq, chilled around the house. got sick on saturday with another fing cold. Was exausted, as was evie.

Woke up this morning, slept in since it was so cold and I was tired. Went downstairs with a note on the kitchen faucet that it is broken (DH was trying to do dishes and the thing that turns it on doesn't do anything, so great have to get a new one, which I wanted to order something nice from a design store since Cassidy said in one of her blog posts that the ones for Lowes / Home Depot are all plastic inside and break esaily, but we need one NOW so I guess Lowes it is). Got all of our stuff together, dropped Evie off at daycare, but forgot her cloth diaper pail. Got to work, got a fresh warm muffin and some coffee. Got to my desk, crap, forgot my laptop. Scarfed down the muffin, 20 minutes later back at my desk with laptop (also dropped off diaper pail). Got a call from DH that Penny (one of our dogs) ate 1/2 of the valentines I got together last night for Evie (gold fish). So now get to do those all over tonight.

So excited to go out and dance tonight at my dance fitness class then go out with the girls for a drink... I think I need that drink now.

  • Awww glad you had a special weekend. You deserved it! Nothing like old friends and good times.

My weekend was not long enough. I had to work on Saturday and I had a test I took in the morning. Then I spent the rest of the weekend doing nothing. I've had to work the last 4 weekends and between that and traveling to Florida the week before, I was exhausted. I actually feel refreshed this morning.

  • Aw, Cass, that sounds awesome.  Glad you had such a wonderful weekend.  You deserve it to celebrate your little one and especially given the few weeks/months you've just been through.

Morrigan - that does not sound awesome.  Hope your day gets better from here.

My weekend was normal.  MIL came Sat and got her Janie fix while DH and I went out to lunch and to the movies.  Sat night I put my two kiddos to bed and then I went out and met an old friend at a new local wine bar for a drink.  The place was rockin' - now I know where all the 30  year old couples are on Saturday nights, lol.  My friend and I had a good time getting caught up.  She just through a crazy ridiculous divorce so I heard all about it and, gotta tell you, I hugged DH a little closer on Sunday.   Yeesh.

Sunday - just wrangling Jane and house stuff.

Jane decided that 5:45 or so both weekend mornings was a perfectly acceptable time to get up.  So, we're exhausted.  Of course, this morning, I had to go in and wake her lazy snoring arse up at 7AM.  KIDS!

  • Back & forth from the hospital visiting with Delaney. Luckily we can take Adelyn but that means we have to leave Nolan agaaaaaaain and it sucks. I'm so hopeful that she'll be home in a few days at most :(

Almost everything Lowes or HD sells is plastic inside, that's true.  They are great faucets for inexpensive fixes or short term use, etc. but they are only meant to last a few years (they want you buying a new one to replace it so they get repeat business!).  But like anything, some are lemons and some are amazing and will last 20 years, so don't stress about it!  Smile

  • I had quite the stressful weekend trying to decide what I was going to do with my job situation.

Friday evening I left work early to go to a Valentine's day dinner at our country club with dh, his parents, and some family friends.  That was a good time, but I couldn't really enjoy myself since I had so much on my mind.

Saturday we watched the Mizzou basketball game at the country club.  Then Saturday evening we had a trivia night as a fundraiser for my little brother's baseball team.  That was a really good time and we actually won (out of probably 35 teams).

Sunday we were totally lazy bums even though we really needed to get our house cleaned.  We went to my in law's for an early dinner because my BIL and new SIL were in town.  When we got home, we did a couple of loads of laundry and picked up the house a bit.  Hopefully this coming up weekend we can really get some good deep cleaning done...our house desperately needs it.
  • Happy 35/35 Cass!  I can't believe you're almost there... and I'm so glad you had a great baby shower, that's awesome.

On Friday, we just stayed in and watched hockey.  I made dinner and it was a nice night.

On Saturday, DH took Natalie to MIL's house in the morning for an all-day hang out that ended up turning into a sleepover... we needed her to be out of the house because we were working on her new room.  We got the paint and had the beadboard wallpaper ready to go... we scraped old wallpaper glue, spackled, sanded down, etc. and then measured for the chair rail, painted and put up the wallpaper.  I'm really, really pleased with the appearance of the wallpaper since we didn't want to commit to the glue and nails of real beadboard in case we didn't like the look or wanted to change her room in a couple of years.

Sunday, we picked up Natalie and went to my parents' house for a German-inspired birthday feast for my dad and brother, whose birthdays are a couple of days apart and were during the work week.  We had schnitzel, gurkensalat, potatoes with jaeger sauce, salad, and pretzel bread followed by German chocolate cake (which yes, I know that's not really German but it happens to be my dad's favorite so we just went with it, lol.)  It was amazing!

  • Happy 35/35 Cass!!  I'm still waiting on my burst of energy to come through, so my weekend involved a lot of lounging, even though it should have been a lot of cleaning hahaha.  I did do some laundry, cleaned the kitchen, etc but not a lot.

I have the day off, so I'm having lunch with a friend and then going grocery shopping.

  • I snuggled Molly until her fever went away Saturday. Sunday I took her to grandma's so I could go on an organizing shopping spree. Then I came home and cleaned out our coat closet. Exciting stuff.
  • My weekend was good. As we all know, Friday night was waxing night! My best friend and I went together and then we meet our DH's for mexican afterwards.

Saturday was our spa day and it was ahhhhmazing. There ended up being 7 of us and the spa shut the place up with a little private party sign and we all got manicures and pedicures. They had champagne, chocolate, and cookies and just kept refiling our glasses while we were getting pedicures. We've decided that this is definitely going to be some type of frequent event. We went to a bourbon bar afterwards and had bbq and bourbon, of course. Sunday was errands and lunch out with DH.

We did find out on Saturday morning that a high school friend was killed in a car wreck. It kind of set a weird tone on Saturday but all of guys got together at our house while we were at the spa and I think they ended up playing beer pong and telling lots of stories about the guy. I feel like it was kind of a therapeutic way for them to deal with it. We're going in today for the family night.

  • Saturday, H stayed home with the girls so I could go out on my own. I went to Ranger's neck of the woods, walked the mall, got new shoes, had PF Chang for the first time, then grocery shopping and spent the evening trying to figure out my new Scentsy consultant stuff.

Sunday, my mother watched the girls so H and I could have some time out. We went to lunch at The Farm, went bowling for my first time ever, then to Home Depot for a dryer vent hose, dog/diaper sprayer and ended up at Walmart to get diapers but ended up getting a new TV stand to keep the TV out of Alex's reach. I'm tired of cleaning the yogurt prints off the thing.

Today I went to get the Mirena put in.

  • It was good. Friday night we had a friend over, had some tacos and way too many peanut butter m'nms. Played some games and then watched Storage Wars. I fell asleep on the couch practically the second she walked out the door.

Saturday morning, my running buddy and I tackled 8 miles, which felt awesome. After that, I headed to Pasadena for the National Marquette Day viewing party and watched MU take down Cinci. When that was over, we headed home and my SIL and her BF came over. The boys brewed while we watched chick flicks.

Sunday morning I ran with my running buddy again, then grabbed a nap before DH and I went on a 20 mile bike ride. It was my first real ride on my new bike (that I bought just before Christmas) and it was so awesome. It's soooo much lighter than my last bike (like, a third of what my old bike weighed) and just so much faster. Also, it was my first time with the clip-in shoes and I managed not to fall down or kill myself (a small miracle considering I tripped and fell down while taking the dog out earlier this weekend). I also squeezed in a couple hours of work on Saturday and Sunday - it was pretty busy!
