Erin...

I wanna hear more about your race this weekend. What kind of terrain etc.

Oh and random factoid, I was almost Cassidy Erin, but about two weeks before I was born my mom discovered the name Kaitlin, so I am Kaitlin Erin

Re: Erin...

  • Hi! The race was in downtown on the waterfront. It was mostly flat with just a few small hills. It started at 8am ( I never run in the morning) and we had a great weather. It was overcast about 40ish and not raining, if you know anything about the NW it rains... a lot! It was a pretty small race about 500 people.

DH works nights downtown so I picked him up from work at 7:30. And drove to the race. There were two huge parking lots across the street, I was majorly stressing about not finding parking and being late. We parked, went potty, remembered I forgot my music in the car, ran to get it, and got in line. Since there was a 12 and 8K our 5k started 10 minutes late.

I set the a comfortable pace knowing I could slow down if I needed. I was feeling great for the first 1.5 miles. The river was beautiful and there were lots of volunteers cheering us on. I alway hit a wall around 1.5 miles DH reminded me of this and told me I was fine and I'd get my second wind. Then we hit the turn around and I knew that I had it in me finish. The second half was good, but Slightly up hill. There was a dude on his condo balcony in his hot pink robe cheering us on, that was pretty funny. I felt strong at the end and up'ed our pace. I finished with a smile on my face and then ate a cinnamon roll and a cup of coffee Big Smile My goal was 36 mins and I finished in 35:35.

Thats pretty funny! My great grandfathers last name is Cassidy and he died when my mom was pregnant with me. And my dad really liked the name Erin.

  • That sounds like fun. Ya know, in the going-to-die sort of way, lol. I'm really itching to do some real-world running as all mine has been done on the treadmill so far. But as of right now there is 3 inches of snow over everything and it's supposed to snow more tonight. So it will have to wait a bit.

  • I know what you mean about wanting to do some real world running. I hate the treadmill! I don't think I'd be able to train solely doing treadmill tuns. The gym is so hot and stuffy, not to mention mind numbingly boring. But, I don't blame you for not wanting to run in the snow. Luckly I live in a pretty moderate area, ie no snow, so we are able to run outside all year long. Spring and fall running is wonderful, crisp, cool, and beautiful.
