Anyone live in Hatboro?

We're in the city now, but venturing out to the burbs for the long haul.  We're about to put an offer on a house in Hatboro.  Anyone from the area or know about the area?  From what we drove past and read online it seems really nice, but I'd like some 1st hand experience too.  Any good restaurants, daycares, shops?

Re: Anyone live in Hatboro?

  • Hi there. My husband and I just moved to Hatboro in December, so I don't have a lot of recommendations to share yet. However, we really like the area, and particularly the neighborhood that we're in. It seems to be very family-friendly, and the schools are great.

  • I am not far from there, L. :)

Cant recommend daycares, but Geek might be able to...

  • Hi,

I lived there for 4 years. Loved it. It was very family friendly and the school - Upper Moreland - is a good school. Depending on what side of the tracks you are on though, Hatboro-Horsham is the other school which is also good. Not too familiar with daycares but I heard the one on Byberry (in front of Upper Moreland Elementary School) was pretty good. It's a nice town. i miss it. There are shops along York Road right in town and they have 1st Friday. We were able to walk there and it was fun. They have a couple carnivals throughout the year too which was nice.

  • I live in the next town over, Warminster. Both Upper Moreland and Hatboro Horsham are good sd's, and it's a very family friendly neighborhood. You are pretty close to a ton of stuff, however I don't know of any day cares. You are close to the Willow Grove mall, shops at warrington, there's a movie theater right there on 611, a few really good restaurants, and Ooka that's also in willow grove is my favorite restaurant in town. The local churches throw a carnival once or twice a year, and there are tons of families that go.
  • Thanks, guys!  The house we're looking at is in the Hatboro/Horsham school district, within walking distance to the strip on York Rd.

Skoorb - I'm so excited to be closer to you!  GTG!

  • The strip on york road has a few bakeries, a few restaurants, hair salons, shops, etc. it's really nice. You'll like the area a lot!
  • I'm in Upper Moreland which is basically the same thing.  We currently rent but are going to be looking for a house in the area because we love it.  I think BP mentioned all of the local stuff that we like.  You're kind of smack in the middle of everything and a 15 minute ride from I-95 to get downtown.

I can't speak to the schools as my guy is too little yet, but if you'd like info on daycare, feel free to PM me.
