Atlantic City restaurant/nightlife recommendations pls?

I'm planning a bachelorette party next month in Atlantic City.  There are six of us, and we'll be staying at Harrah's for two nights.  Can you recommend good places for dinner?  Bride is kind of a foodie, and 4/6 of us will be coming from NY so there's a strong preference for restaurants that don't have NY locations.  That unfortunately eliminates a lot of options.

Also, nightlife -- bride does not want to go to clubs.  None of us have any interest in cheesy bachelorette party antics (or cheesiness, generally, really).  What other options exist?  (I'm scared that the answer is nothing.)

Thanks!

Re: Atlantic City restaurant/nightlife recommendations pls?

  • There are concerts, comedy shows, events of some kind every weekend in AC so maybe there is something that would work for you guys. Because other than clubs and gambling there isn't much to do at night. Movies and Room service? That's one of my favs. Restaurants that aren't in NYC that's a tough one. I am sure there are Michael Mina restaurants in NYC but Sea Blue is one of my favorites in AC. The salad menu and lobster pot pie-yummmmm. People rave about The Continental. I don't remember what I ate there but wasn't impressed. I think I just hit them at a bad time/wasn't in the mood. BFF who is a super foodie has loved them for breakfast/brunch. There is a noodle bar in Ceasars that is good, and whose name I cannot remember. If you want old school AC, and nasty fattening food White House subs is classic. Sorry about the typos. Stupid phone.
  • I actually don't think there are any Michael Mina restaurants in NY!  I lived in Philadelphia for a few years and liked Continental when I lived there, so that's on the list.

And I maybe wasn't clear regarding nightlife -- we definitely want to go out drinking both nights, but the bride doesn't want to go to a nightclub.  So we're looking for other drinking options -- lounges, bars, etc., but I don't know what exists that wouldn't be a cheesy or otherwise bad scene.

    Thanks!

  • I know it is not local to AC but I LOVE Melting Pot and it would be great for this.

  • Hunt around on Philly board for the best recs for AC.

  • What about hitting up the spa to get manis/pedis, maybe massages?

We have daytime figured out -- just trying to figure out night!

LP, good call on checking out the Philly board.  I'd do that.

  • oooh, i was going to say Bobby Flay's at the Borgata when I read the title.  It's the best place I've eaten at in AC, but I know it's a NYC outpost.  Sorry :(

It isn't!  His NY restaurants are different!

  • Bobby Flay is also really great like pp said. They make a great rum sidecar :) The steak and lobster skewers are so damn good. There are a million bars everywhere. I like the bar at Trump Plaza that is just off the boardwalk. Get a window seat for good people watching. There is a loungey type bar right on the casino floor at the borgata that was always nice. Oh, almost forgot Bread and Butter at Borgata. Awesome frozen hot chocolate (better than serendipity IMO) and griddled muffins. There is nothing remotely healthy about it but ohmy. Just talking about it is making me want one!

cool! then I would definitely check it out.  We eat there every time we're in AC and have never been disappointed.  The lobster / avocado cocktail app is amazing.

For entertainment, we've seen a few B list acts - Bret Michaels and Russell Brand come to mind.  They were really fun.  Sammy Hagar's Beach Bar at Bally's is also a favorite of ours.  Great people watching!!

  • Personally, I love the Continental.  I think the one in AC is better than the one (there are two) I went to in Philly.  I'm sure it's in my head, but that's okay.  Like PPs said, check out the restaurants at the Borgata - they're all beautiful and I haven't heard a bad thing about them.  Plus the hotel is great.

The Melting Pot is a good suggestion.  It's a chain, but it's fun with a group of people.

  • Definitely recommend Bobby Flay's restaurant in Borgata.  Delish and doesn't have another NYC location.  Borgata is nice for just walking around and maybe getting a drink at the bars/lounges.
