I would rather receive all of those on random "just because I love you" days. DH knows that I dislike the idea of people feeling obligated to give their SO something special on this day. (And not going to lie, there were so many people in the 10 things Tuesday thread that wrote "I hope DH gets me..." and I thought "Wow, I hope DH does that any day BUT today")
However, if we HAVE to do gifts, I would prefer DH getting me something I've been talking about (which the 2 gifts I have received so far were both unromantic but things I've wanted).
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE romance, but I want it to be a surprise/unexpected.
*Oh, and actually I like exchanging cards with DH. We both buy 2. A silly one and a sappy one.
I voted card because I love a heart felt love note. And DH is very good at writing them.
But I actually really hope he doesn't get me anything else because I didn't buy anything for him.
I agree with all of this. It means so much more when it's random. However, I probably would feel kind of bad if I didn't get anything today. Even though it's kind of a dumb holiday, it's nice to get a little token.
I answered jewelry as a general response. But because we are saving $ for our wedding and honeymoon, I know that's not going to happen. I told FI that we were limited to a card and something small, and told him that I spent about $10'ish on him. I expect similar in return.
In all honesty, I got him a Reeses V-Day heart, and I hope he gets me one because I REALLY want to eat his. I am thinking my chances are pretty good because I got him one last year, and he got me one too. lol Great minds think alike.
I also got him some socks from Meijer that had conversational hearts on them. He loves silly socks, so I thought it would be cute. I gave them to him this morning so that he could wear them all day.
He loved them and put them on.
I guess a card, but I'd like to celebrate by just having DH home. Since that's not an option, we'll Skype instead.
I told him not to buy expensive flowers, but I think that made him feel bad, I think he likes to do those things.
