Valentines Schmalentines

Not like I ever really "celebrated" Valentines Day.. but its effing depressing me today...maybe cuz so many people at my job are wearing red and big smiles and floating around the office like they know they're gonna get some later.. Well, I'm not... so I'm wearing all black.  Sad

Re: Valentines Schmalentines

  • I'm sorry it is such a sad day for you. Mine haven't been so bad the last 3 yrs or so even with dating jerks that blew me off on that day. Since I haven't had a spouse that normally would buy you all the nice things for Valentines Day, someone in my family whether it be my mom or sister, would buy things from my son to give me.

I have to say I couldn't ask for a sweeter, more precious Valentine. This morning I woke up to flowers, a monkey(after my nickname for him) and chocolate. He even signed his name(even if it was scribbles).

  • Hang in there!  Just try to stay positive and good things will come your way!

  • Maybe this tweet from comedian Jim Gaffigan will help.

And here?s your Valentine?s Day forecast: Disappointment with intermittent pockets of candy eating.

  • I'm pretty indifferent this year. And OKC guy who said he wants to be friends and texts things like "xoxo" texted me at 6:58 this morning to say happy valentine's day. My response was, "Lol. Thanks."

Yah, I don't get too excited for v-day.  It's just one of those days that are more difficult when you're single.  I'm glad I'm really busy today with two meetings and working through my lunch so I won't dwell on anything.

XH has his visit tonight with P (at my house).  He asked if tonight was going to work and I said "why wouldn't it?"  He said "well it's v-day I thought maybe you had plans".  I said I did not.  His response "oh, well I guess you're spending v-day with me!"  BARF.  I will make it a point to be at the gym extra long tonight and then come home and go straight to the computer to study.  $100 says he brings me a box of chocolates or flowers or something.  Ewwww.

He's not contacting me via OKC. He's texting me. I suppose he didn't get the reaction from me that he was looking for.

Oh no, I feel bad for you with having your ex over tonight. I think you're right, he will see this as his opportunity to make a big romantic gesture to win you back. Yuck! Keep us posted.

  • I'm having a great day even though I don't have a SO. My mom left chocolates for me at breakfast, my nephew left me a cute albeit unintelligible VM and my BFF took pics of her baby and send them to me. I'm feeling really good that I'm single today :). ((hugs to those who aren't))

ewwwww awkward!!! Seriously I feel super creeped out just reading that haha.

  • Yeah, I am one of those never really celebrated outside family, but it's not so great when you are single type of things. I debated wearing black too, just to protest lol.

But I am making a very big "onward and upward" step today - which I will share with you all late - so that makes it a little better. And I have DD who is the greatest Valentine ever - even if we don't really celebrate it :)

  • Yeah, my lil man is my Valentine as well..& the best one I could ever ask for.. even though he WAS super fresh this morning..LOL  I'm taking him out to dinner.. so I'm looking forward to that!

And a woman who sits near me bought me a red velvet cupcake and told me to smile...how sweet. I think the wearing all black today really does send a clear msg.. haha! Stick out tongue

  • I LOVE Valentine's Day and excluding the three years with my husband, I've always been single. I really don't dwell on it being a holiday only for couples. I make sure to really focus on letting people in my life know how much I love them, doing special things for my friends, etc. I think it's really fun! Who cares if it's a "Hallmark Holiday." Tonight I'm cooking dinner for one of my best friends and we're going to watch the Gossip Girl and Glee Valentine's Day specials. If it's a holiday that makes you sad, I promise embracing it and making it your own will make you feel so much better.
  • I love Valentines Day for the aspect of all of the rose themed stuff I can get. I love roses. This was my first V-Day in 8 years as a single lady. So I took DS and we went to a store at the mall that our friends frequent and just hung out with our friends for a few hours.
