We are done with attorney review and had the house inspected today -- good news! Structure is sound, no termites, roof is in good shape (needs some flashing repairs but otherwise can easily last another 5 years). Nothing super problematic (though there are a bunch of mostly cosmetic repairs we will want to make, some windows to replace). All in all, the inspector was optimistic, didn't see any red flags, which was reassuring.
It was overwhelming at first... so much I'd love to fix right away, but they're not emergencies so we can pace ourselves.
Now all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that the bank accepts our offer! We should hear some sort of update in a couple of weeks. Until then... we wait.

Re: More house news
YAY thats so awesome....keeping my fingers crossed for you!!!
On the flip side we've been in our house for over a year and some days I get obsessed with doing a ton of projects because there is so much to do but because of the budget we are trying really hard to pace ourselves but man if money/time weren't an option....we'd be going crazy! Everyone is like you'll be there for a long time you have plenty of time to work on it but I'm thinking but I want it pretty now!!!!

YAY for progress! So exciting!
Ditto Laurie on wanting to do everything at once. We did A LOT of cosmetic things (very necessary though) right away, and we had lots of emergency repairs along the way too. I know it's hard, you want to do everything at once, but I'm sure glad we had the cushion in the bank for when we had a leak in our ceiling from the upstairs bathroom, when the boiler needed to be replaced, and when the toilets needed to be changed bc of leaks. It's ALWAYS something unexpected, so yes, pace yourself and don't get overwhelmed. I'm so happy you are on your way to your happy home!!!!!
Thanks everyone! It's definitely an exciting time. It was neat to spend a decent bit of time in the house today looking around, getting ideas, really getting a feel for the place. And it felt good! Hard not to get attached, but I know it's far from a done deal.
In the event it all works out, we'll need to deal with the site drainage issue and the oil tank first (it's decommissioned and filled with foam, but we need to remove it). And I think DH's uncle believes it's a necessity for us to change up a kitchen a bit immediately as well (which he is going to spearhead by giving us appliances at cost from his showroom - awesome!). But some of the painting and finishing the floors and such will have to wait a little while. And new furniture... Heh, I'm even dreaming about changing the color of the exterior... LOL. And then, I can't wait to get a garden started... ooh how fun!
Well, I think I need a new Pinterest board!

I'd love to, but I'm afraid of jinxing things... when I feel more certain about it really being our house, I definitely will!

So glad that the inspection went well! Good luck with the bank!
I know exactly what you mean about wanting to do everything right away. We have been in the house about three months now and DH is obsessed with projects. I am trying to slow him down so he doesn't bankrupt us with everything all at once!
You definitely should! It is a great way to keep track of all the projects you want to do!
