What is your dating radius?

I typically try to date guys only in the metro area where I live which includes parts of 3 states.  I'm new to the area though so not really familiar with all of the towns that are nearby.  But when a guy emails me I just make the assumption that he is within an hour or so otherwise what is the point?   I'm going to start mapquesting these guys I think.  I have been talking to this great guy that lives the next state over and just realized he is three hours away!  Although the selection where I live is pretty bad... maybe I should start importing them!

Re: What is your dating radius?

  • I might not be the best person to answer this...my guy lives 1100 miles away.  That wasn't the plan, but it's what happened!

  • Right now I've taken time out from dating but I'm currently talking to someone that lives half way around the world that will be back stateside in a few months.

  • Well, I am probably also not a good person to answer this question as I am on the opposite end of the spectrum as pps mentioned, BUT my BF lives 0.6 miles away. LOL!

I would probably date someone within 50 miles of where I live...

  • Oh I'd say half hour MAX. I like seeing the person I'm dating a few times a week, an hour travel time would be super obnoxious.
  • My radius was 25 miles, or approx a half hour. Of course there was a little wiggle room, but since I live near a major city I figured that should provide enough to choose from.

  • I live in a major metro area, so it's not so much distance as it is travel time. Anything more than an hour is a no-go (which doesn't necessarily equate to very far with traffic here), and I prefer ~30 minutes.

The guy I'm seeing now is on a base about 45 minutes away.

  • My Bf live 90 miles away. It is not to bad. It works for us.

  • Bowies,

There was a post a while back after Christmas. Old BF who tried to reconcile with ExW did not work out. In fact it never made it past the talking stage. So after a few months we talked and are starting over together again.

He was always honest with me about what and why he thought he needed to try to reconcile. So I never felt betrayed just sad about the whole situation. So things are good between us now and he does not have to play the "what if" game with his EX.

  • BF lives about 35 miles (50 minute drive) from me because he likes living out in the middle of nowhere.  He works in the city that I live in, though, so he's here a lot.  I don't like anything further than an hour.
  • About 30-45 mins but the closer the better. I wasted way too much mileage and gas dating someone far away, especially since I live with my parents and they wouldn't be able to come and spend time at my place.

  • An hour away max.  That is about how long it takes to get anywhere in Houston
