Seattle: romantic restaurant ideas near downtown
We just planned a getaway to Seattle for this coming weekend. We are staying at the Alexis Hotel downtown. Any romantic dinner ideas? This would be our V-day celebration; our first time to Seattle.

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

Also, BOKA at Hotel 1000 is right across the street from the Alexis and has fun color changing walls, plus the food is really yummy.

Some initial recommendations:
Palace Kitchen is my favorite Tom Douglas restaurant, and easily walkable (very close) to the Alexis.
I'm also a fan of Wild Ginger, and Metropolitan Grill is a good steakhouse.
Slightly more of a walk, Umi Sake House (sushi). Boatstreet Cafe (super romantic), Spur Gastropub (fantastic plating and more modernist cuisine), Spinasse (Italian), and Quinn's (also "fancy" pub food).
We're going to the Book Bindery this weekend, but I've heard really good things about it.
Crush is also fantastic, but much more expensive, and not sure if you'd be able to get a reservation. Also, Rover's, Luc (same owner as Rover's), and Canlis is a classic.
Aqua by el gaucho ( if you tell them it's a special occasion they sprinkle your table with rose petals)

We went to Boatstreet and loved it. I plan on forcing DH into taking a class there next time he forces me to attend PAX Prime.

We went to Dahlia Lounge and it was amazing, I would definitely go back next time we are there!
Our fave restaurants in/near downtown Seattle are:
The Brooklyn (www.thebrooklyn.com) - The Filet Mignon melts in your mouth, and the crab cakes are awesome as well.
Metropolitan Grill (www.themetropolitangrill.com) - Incredible steaks.
Elliott's (www.elliottsoysterhouse.com) - Best seafood we've ever had, every time.
El Gaucho (http://elgaucho.com/El-Gaucho-Seattle.html) - Amazing ambiance, and really good food, impeccable service. Definitely a dress-up place.
The Book Bindery is amazing -- they have their own winery too, so you can do wine tasting before dinner. Not right downtown, but an inexpensive cab ride and really romantic.
For sushi -- Shiro's (classic) or Umi Sake House (trendy).
For steak -- Metropolitan Grill, Brooklyn, El Gaucho, Daniel's Broiler
