Peekabo Child Center

Has anyone been to the Peekabo Child Center?  I'm thinking of taking Orion on Saturday.

Re: Peekabo Child Center

  • I've been there a couple of times, I feel like it's great for MJ now that he's almost 2, until he was 18 months or so it was just ok, but it's getting better now.  They have a bunch of different rooms, books, toys everywhere and it's pretty big.  It seems pretty clean and there's a snack area that you can bring food and drinks.   I think I still prefer Greenlight Studio in Portland (definitely prefer the location) but it's always nice to have options!
  • We really like it, but we haven't been anywhere else in the area to compare. The first time we went Riley wasn't even walking yet, most recently we went around Christmas and she had a great time. It's close to my parents' house so my mom and I take her occasionally when we visit.

  • I have not been to the Peekaboo place but I have been to Greenlight and I always leave there very discouraged... The other parents who were there when I was would let their kids do whatever without even watching (by not watching I mean backs turned using their computers) and on a few occasions other kids would take things the boys were playing with or try to "hoard" the toys and I would have to intervene and it was frustrating for me to have to be that parent but my boys were not old enough to advocate for themselves and also did not have the verbal skills to tell the kids to not take the toys from them.  It may have just been me... or the other parents there at the time, but I always left feeling a little frustrated...

  • We went to Peekaboo a few times before 1 and right around there. DD loved it, although there were lots of kids there to interact which made it fun. I'm going again next week actually, first time in a while. I keep meaning to try Greenlight, but seems we never make it.

Peekaboo has something for every age, I've never seen anyone on computers and I've only seen mom's really glance at their phones. They have a kitchen and snack area there and a changing area. Only thing I'm not crazy about is it seems that when they are slow they don't tidy as much. The slow days I've found some trash etc laying around.
