Re: Oh hello, thank you note from my brother's wedding

  • I HATE that.  I got a thank you note from a friends' wedding similar to that.  Their wedding was on a FRIDAY!  I had to take an unpaid day to attend your wedding and you can't even be bothered to write out my address or sign your name?

I've got you beat.  I got one for a DW that my hubs was a groomsman in AND we got them a gift for an at home reception!  So that's $2K plus a gift (I refused to give them cash so I made them a wedding album) and you can't hand write me a TY note?!

  • OHHH ... I have gotten two of those - I HATE that.  I took the time to personally write out their checks and cards, they could atleast sign their names on a card!!!
  • That's heinously tacky. I get annoyed when people don't write anything on Christmas cards, let alone thank you notes.
  • I'm sure this sucks even worse due to the fact that it's your brother...

I've had this happen twice: once from a really close friend with the pre-printed postcard crap and another where we waited 4, yes 4, months to receive a thank you note from H's best friend's wedding. That one had a hand written, but generic poem inside and their names. And we checked with all our other friends and everyone's had the same thing written inside. (Really unsure what took 4 months for that!)

  • Ughhh- we have gotten a few of these before and I think they are rude.  I would rather the bride and groom text or email me a thank you than this.  I thought it was especially rude when we went to a destination wedding in Virginia- where none of family lived- and we had to drive 6 hours, pay for hotel for 2 nights, etc... plus I went to the site early to help decorate and not a simple :Thank you so much for traveling the distance to be with us on our special day".

  • I have been to a wedding shower where I addressed my OWN thank you note.  REALLY??  It just reminded me of being at the dentist or doctor's office.  I got my thank you note, since at least I knew it would be delivered to the correct address.
  • We just got one the other day, from a b-day party we attended.  It was a post card type ty note, the message was printed on, but at least dh's aunt did sign her name.

This is popular in the area I grew up in.  I haven't seen it done in a while, but quite a few bridal/baby showers I have gone to in the past have done this.
