Maybe I'm extra sensitive to this, but does anyone else
find fault with the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model being 19 years old?
Perhaps it's because of my job, (and I realize she's over 18 and an "adult"), what is wrong with us that our standard of cover model beauty is 19 years old? What kind of message are we sending to women that 19 years old is the most "desirable/sexy" age?
Don't get me wrong, I think she's gorgeous, but I just think it's scary that models seem to be getting younger and younger and younger.

Nah, but I can understand why you feel that way due to your job.
19 is practically middle aged in the fashion world where everyone starts out at 14.

LOL!
Interesting- perhaps it's just an occupational hazard for me- I'm constantly overthinking societal messages. I haven't bought a fashion magazine or "women's health" magazine in 8 months out of protest- lol!
I don't find fault with it. Honestly, I would never be able to tell she was only 19 just looking at her. This link is eyebrow raising, though.

Check out the cover of last month's Outside Magazine. Sure, she looks healthy and beautiful but I just don't think it is appropriate for a magazine dedicated to outdoor adventure activities. When am I ever going to wear a Herve Leger swimsuit while camping? I'm not! When this came in the mail the first thing I thought was 'Great, now even Outside Magazine gets to F with my body image.'
An American Girl's Travels
I'm not bothered by the fact that she's 19, but I agree about her bathing suit, her boobies are way too big for that itty bitty bikini, and if I recall the picture correctly, her bottoms are about as low as you can possible go w/o exposing her lady bits. Yuck.
I agree that other cover models have been much prettier.
ouch to this quote from that article:
She likened her look to a page three girl and told the newspaper that the model is 'like a footballer?s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.'

That's crazy about the intervention, it's not like she was even heavy with the few extra lbs. What caring "friends" she has!
I know, that made me roll my eyes. She looked healthy and normal. The "standards" women are held to today are asinine.
