Re: Flying
What airport are you flying out of? I've flown out of CLE and CAK- I've heard that CAK is more stringent when it comes to security but that is because they are smaller and have the time to check more thoroughly.
You'll prob take a smaller regional jet to a larger airport like ATL- some ppl worry about the smaller jets but they don't bother me at all. Sometimes you have to gate check your carry-ons and pick them up as you're exiting the plane. No biggie.
In terms of turbulence, someone once told me to look at the attendants for clues about how bad it really is. If they are continuing to stand, serve drinks, etc. it is no big deal. If they immediately get seated and strapped in, you know it is more of an issue.
I always pick seats close to but not in the exit row. I want to be able to get out quick without having the responsibility of those that are actually in the exit row.

I am a flight attendant. I fly about 19 times a week. (give or take 4 or 5 flights) You will not wreck and die. You will be fine. And if you have any questions, let me know.
my suggestions are
1) pack lightly
2) chew gum on take off and landing
3) have a cocktail if you are nervous
4) relax and breathe, you'll do great
I actually love to fly, and feel like a little kid each and every time the the plane takes off and lands. I don't really get nervous because I figure my life is probably more in danger every single day on the Houston freeway systems (where fatalitles are frequent) than the few times that I am on a plane.
If you are scared of heights, then don't sit by a window or it might make you more anxious. Be sure to bring a snack in your carry-on in case they don't give you any food, which most of them don't for shorter flights these days.
Sleeping is hard for me on a plane, so I usually have plenty to keep myself entertained. iPod, magazines, a book, or small project (I wrote out all my Thank You cards from the wedding when we were flying back from our honeymoon!)
I hope you have a good flight experience and enjoy it as much as I do! I'd much rather hop on a plane to get anywhere out of this state than do a long road-trip.
I also love to fly. Last week I realized I haven't flown since November and got a little cranky about it.
I'll just say ditto to what everyone else has said.
I love to fly! Just relax...flying is actually pretty safe. Here are some tips I use when I fly:
-Give yourself more time than you think you'll need to get checked in. I would rather wait around the airport for a while longer than be late or miss my flight.
-Check TSA's website for contraband items. Make sure you don't have any of those.
-I don't wear jewelry until I clear security. It's a pain in the neck to take stuff off. Instead, put it all in a plastic baggie in your purse and put on your watches, necklaces, earrings, etc. after you clear security.
-Get a bottle of water after you get through security. You can take it on the plane with you.
-I take two ibuprofen an hour before my flight departs because if I don't, my ears hurt. I have trouble regulating the pressure. I also make sure I chew gum and drink water after taking off and before landing.
-If your flight is more than an hour long, get up at least once and use the bathroom. Even if you don't have to go, it's good to get up and move.
-Pack light!
-RELAX. Flying is actually very fun!
ETA:
Wear shoes that slip on and off easy. Also, don't do anything complicated with your hair. When I fly out of Austin, TX, they patted my hair and felt it to make sure I wasn't hiding anything.
