Any funny memories from elementary school? Middle or high school boyfriends? College? Worst gift you ever got? Best one?
Re: Funny Vday stories?
Did you guys get your name called over the intercom in 4th block if you got flowers or anything delivered? That was such a big thing in high school. I remember one year DH sent me flowers and he was waiting on my name to be called and it did. All was well.
Then my name got called again, and then his name got called. We were both more than a little flustered. He was upset b/c there was an ex of mine that kind of kept popping up in the beginning of our relationship so he was thinking he had sent me flowers as well. I also knew I didn't send DH anything so I was wondering what girl was sending him something.
My mom had sent each of us a rose. I don't think she understood the drama that high school brought with that intercom system.
We didn't get the intercom thing, but we could send flowers to people at school. I remember all the insecurities that brought about... wondering if someone would send you a flower or not.
WHen I was a freshman in high school, I had a "serious" boyfriend. His sister was quite a bit older and worked at a jewelry store. He bought me a necklace for valentine's day that was a flower with sapphire petals and a diamond center. Waaaaay overboard. My parents were taken aback for sure.
I sold it on Ebay a few years ago.
Drama Mama - that's awesome.
Mine is from today - cake decorator Dill may appreciate. Jim loves these huge chocolate chip cookie cakes with frosting from the grocery store. So, I go get him one - it's all pink and hearts, etc. I ask them to write "Love You Jim!" It was like a 17 year old male who helped me.
What do I get? "Luv U! Jim". My husband is 37, not 17. He doesn't do text-speak. But it's so awesomely bad I left it. Then the guy very proudly tells me he found the (totally clashing) blue frosting to do the lettering b/c "your boyfriend won't want pink". No, no my boyfriend won't.....
EDIT: Here is the pic. The blue doesn't look as clashing b/c of the purple heart but IRL, the blue is like neon.
Please put that on Cake Wrecks!
I don't have any fun Valentine's stories, but the flower thing made me think of Mean Girls (even though they're candy grams at Christmas and not flowers): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htyf5wnC96w
Hilarious!! Plus the placement of the exclamation point makes it sound like its from Jim, not to Jim.
When I was in high school they didn't do announcements, but that would call the class you were in to come get your flowers and you could carry them back to class with you. My boyfriend of 2 years in H.S. absolutely spoiled me with rose deliveries. Valentines Day, Christmas, 6 month-aversary, dating anniversary, etc. He even pre-ordered roses for valentines day the year he was away at basic training for the air force. I proudly carried those beautiful roses around all damn day...thats right ladies, I'm no prom queen, but I DO put out.
Beyond that, nothing noteworthy. DH and I aren't really valentines people, but every year he gets worried that I'll be upset with my lack of gift. I would really prefer just spending the money on a nice dinner and a bottle of wine. This year we're just making dinner together at home (bratwursts and baked potatoes, yummm) b/c we're saving a LOT for the baby. I did tell DH about how I used to get flowers and I think thats why he worries I'll get mad. Yeah, being married and sharing finances is a lot different than your boyfriend spending his hard-earned minimum wages on you so you can show off to other high school girls.
dead. I love you.
Ohmygosh, that is hilarious!!! You need to report back on Jim's reaction.
Please do. I'm dying to know what your boyfriend thinks!!!
And just dying over the whole thing in general.
Naylon, that's awesome. You have to submit that to cakewrecks.

Valentine's Day was also the Senior Slave Day auction at my HS. It was fundraiser for prom. You could bid on seniors and make them do whatever you wanted for the day. I was a freshmen and my brother's best friend was a senior so I decided to bid on him because I wanted a ride home vs. taking the crappy bus. Well, a bunch of snotty girls he was friends with found out I was bidding and decided to pool their money against me. This pissed me off so much that I snuck in a ridculously high stupid bid right before the auction closed. I ended up winning - but he also got recognized as bringing in the most $$ for the class - and everyone thought I was madly in love with him. I just didn't want to lose to a bunch of mean girls
And yes, he drove me home! and carried my backpack!
