Business Question

Rusty recently started his own sub contractor business.  He has spent is few free days marketing around our area.  There is one general contractor in our town that he hasn't visited yet.  He hasn't gone to talk to them because my parents (who own a door business and whom most of Rusty work has come from) don't like doing business with them anymore because they aren't bery good about paying their bills.  Rusty needs to get his name out to everyone he can, but I'm stuck on if he should market to this one company.

So, if you were in our situation would you risk getting a job with a company that you know has had trouble paying bills ontime in the past?  I don't know what the situation was whether they were waiting to get paid before they paid their suppliers or what.

Re: Business Question

  • If he needs the business/money then I would do it. If not, just steer clear of them.

Or maybe he can give them a chance, but if there are any issues at all not work for them again.

I was thinking the same thing. Since he's trying to get his business out I would just let him go to the company.  He will know if he should do business with them or not after meeting them.

  • I agree... if he needs the business, I say try it kind of on a trial basis... maybe take one job and see how they handle it.

If he has enough work, maybe he could table it for now....

  • Thanks girls.  I think he will go meet with them to get a feel for how they do business.  We will see if they have any jobs for him to bid.
