Turks & Caico anyone?

If you have gone there, which hotel(s) do you recommend for me and my DH to get away for 3 nights?  Thanks!!

Re: Turks & Caico anyone?

  • What are you looking for in a hotel and what is your budget?

We stayed at the Veranda, which I loved and can recommend.  However, it's all-inclusive, which I wouldn't have done, if it was just DH and I.  But we were traveling with kids and the ease of AI was nice, as well as the kids' club.  Veranda is a good deal at the luxury end of the spectrum.

If we go back, I'd really like to try the Somerset.  It's a beautiful property and gets rave reviews.

If you're looking for more moderate pricing, I know the Sands, Ocean Club, Ocean Club West, and Royal West Indies seem to be the favorites on the trip advisor forum.

  • We also stayed at The Veranda which we also loved. We liked how it was a smaller resort...plus the staff is super friendly and helpful. Even though it is AI, we met people who left the resort for some meals.

When I was booking our trip, I also looked at The Gansevoort. It gets good Trip Advisor reviews (at least it did when I looked a year and a half ago).

  • We stayed at Royal West Indies, which isn't a hotel, but condos. Right on Grace Bay Beach.
  • If you are on the East Coast, Turks and Caicos is a great choice because there are non-stop flights from major airports.  AA flies non-stop from JFK every day.

We stayed at Amanyara for 5 days last August.  It is very pricey - no two ways about it.  The resort wouldn't be everyone's taste, but it was perfect for us.  No hotel rooms, you stay in your own pavilion.  You never see your neighbors.  There are activities, but you can also just do absolutely nothing if you choose.  The food was great, the service was impeccable and we really enjoyed the calm and relaxation.  But there is no "party scene" or Caribbean music played loudly.

  • Thank you so much for all of your help.  We are looking for a moderate pricing range but good review hotel.  It's for my DH 40th bday so he does not know :)  I'm thinking instead of a party, to go away as he would love to do.  I can do a nice dinner with our kids and parents and siblings and a 3 night get-a-way for us so not to leave the kids too long.
