I hate buying plane tickets!
We just booked a trip to Key West with my parents.
When we started looking at tickets they were about $475 each. Then they went up to like $579 each.
Last night when we went to book - $661 each. So Jeff and I get our tickets. 5 seconds later I go to book for my parents and theirs have gone up to $750 each! I called in to Delta and they basically told me that that's just the way it is. So unhelpful.
So now our airfare as a group is $2822 instead of $1800 from when we started working on the trip less than 2 weeks ago. That is insane. It's costing us as nearly as much for this trip as it did for our honeymoon in Jamaica.
I don't mind the actual flying part of flying, but holy crap that's expensive!

Crazy airfare was the only way I could talk my mom out of a Vegas wedding this year!! It's insane how much it cost to fly now.
I so wish we had flexible times. A few of the flights were cheaper, but it's was either get there at 11:00 am or 9 pm. I didn't want to miss that extra full day of vacation!
The thing that gets me too is that we could save like $200 each if we wanted to add in an extra stop. Call me crazy, but it's that an EXTRA plane, extra gas, extra staff, etc. etc. Why is that cheaper? I am baffled.
...and shmooz...I cannot feel sorry for you with your $100 ticket, LOL! Just kidding - an increase sucks either way!
VA - glad to hear you like Key West. We've never been, but it's on my dad's list and we finally let him pick!

One of my co-workers has been using this app (available for apple and droid products at least, if not others also) called "On The Fly" and he was able to get round trip tickets to Costa Rica from SFO for $500. I haven't used it yet but I definitely plan to for my next trip!
what gets me is that you have to pay all the money for the tickets and they dont even give you any free bags.. we are going to florida in April and went through southwest because they were the only ones with a lower fair and offered 2 free checks bags.. so frustrating!

MD - Key West is way far away. I didn't realize until I googled it, but it's way down past Miami. Literally in the ocean. We don't want to fly and then rent a car and drive all the way down there.
I'm fine with paying a bit more for convenience, but to pay $1000 more for the exact same thing just because they raise the price gets me all fired up.
I didn't even think of the bad fees. Dang airlines!!!
