Brainstorm: "Dream BIG"

I have been asked to fill out a questionnaire by my dept. manager.  One of the questions is "How can we create an opportunity to dream BIG?"

I think this is an opportunity to dream big for the department/company and not for me, personally.  I am drawing a huge blank...  I guess it could be anything from training to software development to contract awards...  thoughts?

Re: Brainstorm: "Dream BIG"

  • do you think they're looking for motivational tactics? my brothers both work for the same company that does a LOT of motivational things. they have work group outings to places like frisbee golf, six flags etc. they have halloween costume contests, and the company sponsors movie night every month where they rent out an entire theater and allow employees to get so many snack items for free. that's just smaller things. not quite as good as google, but still high up there!

  • Opportunities for continuing education are alway good. Whether that be tuition help for employees or a group "field trip" to one of your suppliers to see first hand what they do. You could propose something like that.
  • Those are good ideas - I hadn't thought about them.  I am going to "wordsmith" both of those and add them into my document.

    Thanks, ladies!

  • I hate questions like this.  I really feel like we should focus on the present, make those things better and stop spending so much time dreaming big about things that are likely difficult to accomplish.

I know, right?  I was like "We need to fix the "now" and dream about the BIG later..."  One of my coworkers suggested that we dream BIG by trying to have the first successful engineering effort on the moon...working with zero gravity.  Now that is dreaming big.  Myself and the other guy filling the form out went with these suggestions (training, etc) as well as adding in more fun activities for socializing (which we definitely don't do now).
