another problem with my kitty

she has puss coming out of her vagina. this could indicate a serious infection that can happen with intact females (she is not spayed due to her heart condition). i hope it's nothing serious. she is acting normal. i am taking her to the vet this morning. question for those who have lost a pet: is it normal to go into hysterics when the surviving pet gets sick? it's been two months and worrying about bella has brought up so much panic and thoughts about what happened with our kitty iowa. i am just not ready to lose another. in fact i still want to take bella to va tech (5 hours away) to be spayed but i just cant bring myself to set up the appointment. it's risky with her heart problem and i dont feel ready to go through that again if the worst happens.

  • Oh no! Poor kitty. I hope everything is okay. I'm sure it's normal to stress about one pet after the loss of another. At least I know I'm that way, so normal or not I understand where you are coming from. Sending you and your kitty hugs!

  • thanks - the vet isn't sure what the discharge is. she gave us antibiotics and she wants me to keep an eye on her over the next two weeks. if it doesn't get better we'll do bloodwork, an ultrasound, etc. she is still not convinced about getting her spayed. she is torn and said "I do not envy your decision." great.

  • Hope the antibiotics help and your kitty gets better soon.

My family worried a lot about the surviving cat after my parents lost one. But they were sisters and getting older, so we knew it was just a matter of time before the other one died too. It seemed like every twitch or weird looking poop was a sign her health was failing.

  • Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope your kitty feels better soon.
