PSA: Oil Cleansing Method ftw!

I know you ladies have probably read about this already, as I've seen a few posts about it around the nest. Actually, I think this is where I first heard of it.

I've had acne since I was in the 4th grade. Yep! As soon as my body even started to consider going through puberty, I became a pizza face. It was horrible. My mom took me to the dermatologist by about the time I was ready to start middle school, and we tried everything. Different prescription topical medications, face washes, even Pro Activ (which only worked for a few months, but then stopped working). The birth control pill is the only thing that ever gave me clear skin.

I've been off the pill for more than a year now though, and my acne is back to getting out of hand. It's embarrassing. So I finally decided to try this oil cleansing method.

I used 1 part castor oil and 3 parts evoo for my combination skin. I did it for the first time last Saturday and for the second time today, and I am seriously telling the truth when I say that my face is as smooth as a baby's butt. I also haven't had to use any astringent or toner in the meantime, and the amount of moisturizer I've used on my face is little to none.

If your skin sucks as much as mine and you've even thought about trying this, I'm telling you now to DOOOO EEEEEET!

  • Thanks for posting this.  I was using Argan Oil on my face at night but the stress of the Bar has made me look like a pizza face.  Now I really want to start the OCM.  What kind of moisturizer do you use--in the morning or at night?

ETA: Do you use a makeup remover before you do this?

I use Aveda's Inner Light moisturizer for night and day. It is spf 15, and it's super light and doesn't make me oily.

Also, I bought jojoba oil to use for the OCM, but I mixed up a small batch using evoo because I forgot that I had jojoba. I'm pretty sure the jojoba is going to be even better, and of course now I can't wait to do it again.

  • I tried it last week and my skin was soooooooo smooth. It looked the best ever the next day. I used 2 parts castor oil and 1 part evoo though. Where do you find jojoba oil?

I also tried the non-coated aspirin + honey on a cyst and OMG it's a miracle!!!! I had a huge cyst coming and it was gone the next day.

  • I want to run out and get castor oil tonight. I have a date tomorrow.

I found it at Walgreens in the laxative aisle. And I live in the middle of nowhere.

I should move to your town because I went to two stores and all I found was mineral oil.  If I break out before my date tomorrow (like my skin could really get any worse right now), it's all on you girls!

Honey and non-coated aspirin for 30 min on your zits. It works wonders.

I got it at Whole Body, the sister store to Whole Foods. I would imagine you could only find it at some sort of specialty store.

I have heard about the aspirin and honey thing. 1 aspirin? How much honey? I need more information! Please and thank you. :)

  • I use 2  non-coated aspirin pills that I crush easily with a spoon in an espresso cup. Then I add a little bit of honey. 1 table spoon or 2 max. You don't want it to be too runny.
