Everything is okay, but here's the story/rant:
I went to bed about 11 last night (should have been in bed at 10). I had just fallen asleep when my cell phone rings. I look at the number irritated, read it aloud to FI, and silence my phone. No big deal. FI looks up the number because it was obviously a business number. Turns out it was the local police department.
I think "who would be calling me from jail?" I don't have any family here. I don't have any best friends here (other than FI who was in bed with me). "Oh no, was somebody in an accident?"
I get out of bed, put on my robe to get the landline phone (bad cell reception). When I call the number, I told the girl that I had a missed call from them.
Police: "Do you have a XXX number?"
Me: "Yes."
P: "We have the number down wrong. We were looking for a Mr. [biggest car dealership in town]."
First of all, don't call from a police department and hang up when you realize that you've called the wrong number. At least leave a message apologizing for your mistake.
Second, if they realized that they called the wrong number, they probably shouldn't give out information about who they are trying to get ahold of... especially when he has the same last name as the biggest car dealership in town.
No big deal. Everything's okay. But I was angry because I had already gone to bed late, after they called I couldn't got back to sleep, and I am working from 8am-9pm today.
