Free Cat Box..

Not sure if this qualifies as a free cat box post, but...

Rosco Cat is driving me NUTS. He's full of mischief for some reason today. So far, he has destroyed to following:

  • 1 bag of potato chips
  • my carpet (when he jumped on the table and dumped Pepsi on the floor)
  • 2 rolls of toilet paper ( I have NO IDEA where/how he finds it)
  • 1 glittery gift bag (he is now covered in red glitter)

He has also climbed the back of the couch, tried to escape into the back yard (he wanted to go "potty" with the dogs). About 5 minutes ago I heard strange noises in the kitchen and he was on top of the REFRIGERATOR. I have no clue how he got up there!

Now, he's doing laps in our tiny house and using the dogs as hurdles, whether they're standing or laying down. Part of this routine also includes climbing over me and the computer. Heaven forbid you go near is food dish, because apparently snack time is all the time today and he is vocally insisting on being fed (which I've only done at normal meal times)....I'm contemplating locking him in a room...

I'm afraid I'm going to lose my sanity.  O_o

End Cat Rant. Thanks for reading!

ETA: I can now add the bookshelf to the list of things he has climbed today. I swear I leave the room for 5 seconds...

Re: Free Cat Box..

  • I'm a naive newbie, but have really grown to like this board.  Can you please tell me what "free cat box" means?

p.s. your kitty sounds fun... because he's yours and not mine

    No Siggy

I *think* (if I used it right, this is my first one!) free cat (or dog) box is when your pet(s) are doing some thing that's driving you nuts and you jokingly want to put them in the "free pet box".  It could be something like mine (numerous but you'd going insane) or more serious, like "really - my cat refuses to use the litter box and the vet says he's just fine". That kind of thing.

    Hope that helped/made sense!

disclaimer:  (this is not a real picture - actually from an "economics" website stating the nothing is really "free")

  • The OP is right about the free cat/dog box. L tends to be the one that drives us nuts, although her brothers are also quite capable of getting on top of the fridge. We ordered sticky paws, and they should be here today. I'll let you know how they work! Also, do you have any interactive toys for kitty? Our guys like the peek a prize toy box. Our neighbors got them a zhu zhu pet for Christmas, and sometimes we let it go and they chase it around the house. They also love the cat nip bananas. The zhu zhu pet and bananas are toys we have to supervise, though. Oh, and we have taught L to sit, so you could work on that to give her a mental workout, too.

I'm so glad this was asked/answered because I was wondering the same thing!  I could post a few of these myself! haha

  • These Roscoe shenanigans definitely qualify for the free cat box. Too many zoomie Roscoe!

We do have quite a few toys for kitty. His favorite is the laser pointer (and any type of moving light spot). However he prefers his beer boxes, milk tops, and paper balls. He also enjoys torturing the dogs! (he's a pouncer - it's so cute seeing is butt wiggle before he grabs 'em!)

Anyway...every once in awhile, we get a day like this! Usually right after dinner. It's been more frequent since we switched him to TOW. He also looks healthier and is MUCH more vocal and attention seeking!

I know, right!? I just got home from work and i haven't seen him yet. Which means he is lurking. Waiting for the right time to fly out of nowhere....
