Where to stay at Disney World
We are going at the end of May and aren't sure where we should stay. We for sure want to be staying at DW at one of the resorts. We also want access to the monorail. DD#1 will be thirteen and DD#2 will be ten months. Any advice and extra tips and or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cost is not a huge issue but we would like it to be reasonable.
TIA

Re: Where to stay at Disney World
Only 3 resorts are on the monorail line...Contempory, Polynision, and Grand Floridan. If you stay at the Cont, you can walk to the Magic Kingdom. If you stay at the Poly, you can walk to the Ticket and Transportation Center to board the monorail to Epcot. However these 3 resorts are considered deluxe and are $$$.
You don't have to stay at one of the monrail resorts to use the monorail. Heck, you don't even have to stay om property. Anyone can use the monorail.
I would check out the boards at www.disboards.com for some great advice from seasoned Disney people who know the in and outs of the parks and the resorts.
All of the resorts on property have shuttle bus transportation to the various parks. Some also have boats to some of the parks.
We have stayed at the Grand Flordian twice and it is super convenient for MK access. You take the monorail to the park in the morning and it is only one stop away. Coming back, we take the boat and again it is only one stop. If you take the monorail back you have to circle the whole thing, making 4 stops. The only issue with the boat is that you have to fold down your stroller, with the monorail you just wheel it on.
We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge once, I was not a fan. Our room was incredibly dark. It did have boat access to the MK, but you had to take the bus everywhere else.
Have fun! Next on our list is the Contemporary, also a monorail resort.
