What are you doing for your anniversary?
Can you believe our SECOND anniversary is just around the corner? It seems like not long ago we were all picking out colors and flower arrangements....now we're all buying houses and having BABIES!
What's everyone doing for their anniversary? For now we are just going to a really nice restaurant. I won a $150 gift certificate to the restaurant of my choice by winning a recipe contest SO that's what it's going for. I don't know what else we are doing though....
Also, what are ya'll getting for your DHs? The traditional gift is cotton but I'm stumped on ideas....
Re: What are you doing for your anniversary?

note... our favlace to blow stupid money on food is Ruth Chris Steakhouse... lol the BEST steaks EVER. but let us know what you decide!

Um, seriously, I can't believe how much all our lives have changed completely in the 2-3 years we have known each other!!!!
Haven't given it much thought yet...we are going to see the Yankees play in Baltimore in early April, but that's for my bday. My bday is Friday 4/20 and our anniv is Monday, 4/23, so we'll prob do something (fancy date night?) on the weekend in between. I'd like to get a mini wedding cake again, because the bakery that made it is 20 mins from where we live and it's AWESOME, so that would be a fun tradition.
Cotton, huh? Gotta think about that one!!!
I'm having a baby
(For the win!!)
Seriously, my due date is 4 days before our anniversary, so I'll either be extremely pregnant or have a newborn. And either way, my mom will be staying with us at that point. My guess is we'll order some really good take-out or have my mom cook us a nice meal. I am secretly hoping that the baby isn't born that day so that I don't have to sacrifice my anniversary for the next 18 years, but he'll come when he's ready!
Poor DH... our baby's expected birthday, our anniversary, my bday and mother's day are all within 3 weeks of each other. I told him to just get me one big gift to cover all of the occasions, and he gets bonus points if it's something shiny.
I'm thinking a couples massage at this nice spa in downtown Trenton, then dinner at a nice restaurant. It's on a Tuesday this year, and we have Amanda on Tuesday nights so we'll celebrate it the Saturday before (or after, depending on which weekend Amanda is with us).
Hopefully I"ll still be employed.....
@Lori - my sister was born on my parents' anniversary and I always made fun of them all bc they had to share their "day".
One of our best friends (and our officiant) is getting married on 4/20 in D.C., so we'll be basically using that weekend as our anniversary trip (4/24 is our anniversary).
I'm soooo excited the gift is cotton bc DH needs new T-shirts BAD. I know that's not exactly romantic but whatevs, he'll appreciate it
I have no clue. A lot depends on how our meeting goes on Saturday with housing people.
DH asked me about a month ago what I wanted to do, and I didn't have an answer then either. I'm thinking it may just be a nice dinner somewhere. As far as gifts go, haven't thought about it much. I suppose I should start thinking about this stuff.
@Lori: You definitely win!
We haven't even talked about it. Not sure since we will have baby. And I haven't even thought of getting him anything. So focused on the day to day stuff right now.

Wow...it's so crazy how fast time has been going, and where we all are in our lives!!
I sometimes wish I could go back and relive that day...pure fun, excitement, joy and love!
Our anniversary is 4/24 and my bday is 4/30. We probably wont do too much the weekend before or after the anniversary due to me being in school and having Saturday classes until 5/3...UGH. Maybe on the actual day we'll go out for supper some place really nice. We'll see.
We got a gift certificate for a very generous amount from his dad and step mom for xmas for a place called Peddler's Village, which is outside of Philadelphia. The amount should cover two nights in one of their rooms at the Inn. They have tons of neat little shops, activities and restaurants. I think it will be nice...AND we wont have to pay a whole lot of money to go away to boot!! Next year I am done with grad school...I am hoping to go away to Mexico or some other wonderful place in honor of both our anniversary and me graduating!

April Nesties March siggy challenge: Next Vacation, Anguilla!!
We are thinking about a night away from home with a nice dinner and staying at a nearby hotel. We'll probably get MIL and SIL to stay at our house with the baby for the night.
Our thinking is our anniversary would be right around my 6 week clearance for bedroom time and while we'd like to go out to dinner either way, I don't want to leave my son with a random babysitter and I don't want to try to be intimate for the first time again with a house full of people, hence the hotel. So that's the plan right now and we'll see how it all works out.
I'm glad you brought this up Amanda because I haven't even thought about it! Last year we had a romantic dinner and spent the night in a hotel so I'm not sure if we'll do the same thing this year or not.
With the baby, it will be kind of hard, but by the time our anniversary comes around, she'll be used to drinking out of a bottle so maybe my parents will come down to babysit for the weekend and we'll sneak away. Although I'm not sure I could do an entire weekend away so maybe just a night.
It's so crazy to think how much has changed in two years.
It's so amazing how much time flies!
Hubby and I will be heading to Cape Cod for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary! We're staying at a nice little B&B that has a spa - so for our 'cotton' gift, we're giving eachother a day at the spa (since that involves towels, robes, etc...). We'll probably do a whale watch too and spend some time on the beach. Even though it's a short-ish drive, it will be SO amazing to get away for the weekend.
I know you told me before, but where did you guys go eat last year?
We also need to pray for no tornadoes this year.
Well the day after our anniversary I am leaving for Indianapolis for my profession's national conference! Soooo on our actual anniversary I'm not sure we will do too much.
I talked to DH about maybe going somewhere for the weekend before which was not going to be easy financially because of the conference. BUT I just found out I won a scholarship that is paying for me to attend the conference! So that freed up a bit of money that I'm hoping to use to get away with DH the weekend before
No idea what I will get him...I was just about to go look up what 2nd year was...hmmm cotton....
DH & I at the Light Festival
@Lori and @Krystle - sounds very familiar, only I wasn't expecting there to be such close proximity of birth date and anniversary at all! Milo was born on April 17 (anniversary for some of you!) and our anniversary was one week later. I had been released from the hospital, but Milo was still in NICU. We would have much rather had Milo with us (or better yet, still in my belly), but with Milo in the hospital it afforded us the chance to slip away for a couple of hours to go have dinner. And we went for sushi, which I wouldn't have been able to indulge in if I was still pregnant. It was, honestly, a kind of strange day for us. We had planned to be just the two of us, and we were, but we weren't. It was also Easter Sunday, so that added to the surreality. I think we totally forgot about presents too.
This year, anniversary will be one week after Milo's first birthday (duh, but I still can't quite wrap my head around my baby being a year old already). No idea what we're planning for either. But maybe we'll get my cousin to babysit on 4/22 (Sundays are our only weekend night due to DH's work schedule) and go out for dinner and a movie a couple of days before our anniversary.
And DH and I both need socks and underwear, so maybe we'll go shopping too!

Ha! We definitely need to pray for no tornadoes this year.
We went out to eat at Jimmy's on the Park. It's in Clayton off of DeMun Avenue. My mouth is watering right now thinking about it. I usually end up ordering their beef special. When they tell you the specials, there are usually a bunch of fancy words that I don't understand, but it comes out deliciously amazing every time!
I have NO idea. On our actual anniversary we have a doctors appointment to check the heart beat and stuff, so probably just going out to dinner after that.
We might go down to the city for a night, just to say we did something!
I was just thinking about this the other day also!
Another 4/24 girl here :-)
Super excited for you ladies expecting little ones and moving into new homes! These are amazing times, and I am so happy that we've been able to keep in touch over these past two years - through the ups, downs and in betweens!
H and I are taking a trip for a week to Niagara Falls (US/Canadian) in May for Anniversary number 2. I'll probably get him a "cotton" t-shirt while we're there (hehe!). We decided that April would be a little chilly for that trip, so we decided do go during Memorial Day week, in hopes that it will be lovely weather. He's never been to the falls, and I haven't been since I was 13, so we are both pretty stoked :-)
I'm really enjoying reading what everyone is planning on doing!
I was born 2 days after my parents anniversary....my Dad STILL mixes up the days!! haha
Still need to think of a present idea....maybe some clothes lol
