For those who have been to Mexico..
Our cruise hits Progreso and Cozumel. We're hitting up Chichen Itza in Progreso because I've always wanted to go there so we have one thing to do in Progreso..
Give us some ideas on excursions to go on and all that..I've never been so I need help

Re: For those who have been to Mexico..
We might just do that. We're spending our anniversary at the Mayan Ruins so it will be hella excited (I was going to major in Anthropology and I took classes by an archaeologist who is a Mayanist so its exciting to see what she lectured about).
I may book a shore snorkling event for us..would that be fun?
haha! We're going to the Aquarium this Sunday. The last time we went to Corpus we went to the Lexington and hung out on the beach. This time it will be too chilly to hang on the beach so we're hitting up the Aquarium and getting some sea food on the beach!
Bring your own gear. Buy it at Target and snorkle anytime you want
I've only been to Cancun, and my recommendation is to not be on crutches!
I hope you have a great time!
I would do a google search of "resorts" in Cozumel. When we did our cruise, that was one of our stops and we paid $20 a person for unlimited food, drinks, snorkel/water gear. It was the best stop of our cruise. They had this pavilion thing set up where all the food was (it was REALLY good food) and a beach had one of those blow up trampolines on the water.
The best part was when they served us shots on a boogey board!
My friends and I did a really fun snorkeling excursion! We had the option of driving our own little 2-person speed boats or jet skis. We chose the speed boats and it was a blast. There was about 10 of us in 5 different boats and we got to drive as fast and ridiculous as we wanted while following the tour guide out into the middle of the ocean where a coral reef was.
I wish I could remember the name of the company because it was great! We went to Cancun though and it's been a few years.
We did this, sounds almost exactly like our resort. It was on La Isla Mujeres and there was a little area on the island where you could walk to for shopping if you didn't want to do all the water sports/beach lounging. I remember it was open bar, and I think I drank more than I ate, but it was all covered under one flat price.
I *think* we have a complimentary resort stay so I'm going to look into that.
I also like the idea of buying our own snorkling gear. We're about 5 months out so I have time
Progreso is actually a really cool town, not commercialized at all- very authentic Mexican town- there's some great restaurants right on the beach and great shopping to haggle with vendors.
Not sure if your cruise does any of those, but if you can take a day excursion to Isla Mujeres, it's WELL worth it. Chichen Itza is pretty cool and so is Ek Balak (sp?).
I lived in that area of Mexico for four months, but it was awhile ago so my memory is hazy.
