Did you get your kids teacher a valentines gift?
I don't mean did your kid give them a valentine but did you send in an actual gift? Mia just mentioned that some of the kids brought in gifts for the teacher. We gave her a valentine but it honestly didn't even cross my mind to send in a gift for her. I feel like the gifting gets more and more out of control and I can't keep track of what I'm supposed to be doing. haha.

it's friggin ridiculous.
I sent gifts in for the kids - that was it. and today at pick-up, when the teachers were saying goodbye for the break (they're off next week) they threw in a "thanks to everyone for the gifts!". um, ok.
I'm new to all this and can't keep track either, and quite honestly don't understand why a teacher should get gifts for v-day anyway.

I sent cupcakes for the entire staff because I needed an excuse to make them. They appreciated it but I wish I had waited for a random day instead because they had lots of sweets that day.
Right there with you. I think most of the kids have older siblings but this is all new to me too and it's absolutely ridiculous! Holiday gifts? Definitely. End of year gifts? No problem, they deserve it. Sending stuff in through out the year that the teacher needs? My pleasure. But seriously? Do I have to send something for every little holiday they celebrate just to keep up with the other parents?
don't forget president's day is Monday better get to work on something. lol
I'm working on my Lincoln hook rug as we speak.
I did a little bag of hershey hugs and kisses. Danny made a pig's head out of different shaped hearts and I wrote "Hogs and kisses" on the back and attached to the top of the bag. I also gave them a $5 GC to Dunkin Donuts. I was going to just buy a box of chocolate but figured the money would be better spent on coffee. I spent the same amount I would have spent on 3 boxes of candy.

My daughter switched schools in early January from a public school she was miserable at to a Catholic school that has quite literally been a godsend (and I'm not a real religious person).
We baked cookies and sent a few each in a paper box to her K teacher and her principal (a kind, loving person who made this whole transition work). We attached a balloon to each and sent a heartfelt note.
This is probably the only year we will do so, we just needed to express our gratitude to these two individuals this year.
As a teacher, I got a few gifts yesterday, mostly chocolate.
I did the pinterest idea with the hand cream- so I got some inexpensive hand cream, traced Kieran's and Mikey's hands and taped them to the cream- and wrote on it, mrs.t/miss kathy you deserve a hand- love ...
nothing fancy just a little thought- I don't do big gifts except for Christmas and end of year-
ETA- we were also not to send anything for the kids- no candy, no treats, nothing! I made the class gift of crayon hearts and a lollipop- but that was from the class moms- other then that- all he got was a necklace and they had a ice cream party- and exchanged paper cards only-

I agree with this. Now I have a bunch of stuff my boys will not eat or play with and I will end up throwing away. Such a waste of money. I did not give the teachers gifts either.
We made them craft flower pots. Gabriel loves to craft so I thought it was sweet. They said, "thank you for helping me grow". We didn't buy anything.
We also made the actual kids' valentines & treats too though.

For the kids at school, I sent in Cars Valentines w/ a lollipop and stickers. I stuck a $5 Target GC in his teacher's cards. Just a little something, and like I said, I was getting a bunch of gifts together anyway.
We usually don't do more than the paper card for them. However, this year I saw a Hershey Valentine Chocolate Apples in CVS. They were cheap and I had a coupon so I picked two up for his teacher and the assistant.
