Riley Patrick's birth story

We had a scheduled c/s last Monday at 10 am.  Went in on time and walked right into the O.R.

It was a much different experience from my first c/s.  First off, I was "with it" the whole time.  With LB, I felt drugged and not with it.  I also got sick twice during this c/s which didnt happen with my last.  Got staples this time instead of tape and I am wondering if that contributed to my horrid recovery. They were having a hard time trying to get him out so the dr. was literally jumping on me and it felt terrible. He was born at 10:59 and he was shown to me, healthy, crying, all white with a head full of black hair and baby blue eyes.  Most importantly, both of his eyes were wide open, which is something we prayed for for 9 months.    Love.  Instantaneously.

The pain afterwards was WAY worse than last time and the meds weren't touching it.  They upped and changed them twice.  Finally we got it right.   He was brought to me in recovery and we snuggled and he latched perfectly.  He really was too sleepy to eat though.  The time in the hospital was nice so we could bond but I was happy to be released so we could get home to his big sister.  Our little family is wonderful and LB loves him.  Always checking in on him and giving kisses.  It is wonderful.

Today we had to go back to the hospital because while he was jaundice when born, they said it was nothing to be concerned over.  He was still yellow this morning so I brought him in.  Blood work shows that his levels are still quite elevated so, we are following up on bloodwork Thursday.  So far they ruled out heart murmur and infection.  We shall see.

We are so blessed to have him and so far he is sleeping so much that I actually have to wake him for feedings!!
