Anyone want to shop for me?

I'd like a mounted bathroom cabinet for our power room.  This is what I want style-wise but I don't want glass doors:

I'd like it to be dark dark espresso or black.  I'd like it to have solid doors.  Not see through, not mirrors.  If the doors are glass but opaque, that might be OK.

This isn't  a recessed medicine cabinet, it would be a wall mounted, like a kitchen cabinet or something.

Ideally under $150 - but if you think I'd love it and it's more, lay it on me.

  • This at Target:

Carlyle Two Door Wall Cabinet - Dark Espresso

Edited to removed mirrored option. I just re-read your post, you said no mirrors.

  • If you find one with glass doors, you could like the glass with a pretty wrapping paper or scrapbook paper to give it a pop. Yesterday on the Nate Berkus show, he was talking about this for the back of a shelf. I think it could totally work to cover glass as well. He suggested thick stripes or anything with a lot of texture.

This was what I was going to suggest, as I really like the initial one you posted. I wouldn't cover the glass, but use the decorative paper behind the glass (like a picture frame). OR you could also by frosting/etched paint or film to put on the glass to give it that effect. A few sheets of crafting board and some stain or paint could always work too.

Hope you find something, I'll keep my eyes peeled. :)

Thanks for clarifying Trickey. By covering the glass, I meant behind, like a frame. I would look funky and not hold up if it was in front of the glass. I really like your frosted film idea too. Home Depot has quite a few patterns to choose from.

  • Hmmm, thanks ladies.  I don't know if I can rock the scrap paper idea.  The bathroom is a deep red, with no windows and no real style.  I don't know.  Blah.

I LOVE the look of glass doors, I just don't want 'em because I want to store like Tampons and crap in the cabinets, not anything pretty :)

I saw this one on Home Depot which has potential:

    and this one too:

I hadn't thought of HD at first and every place I was looking (Target, JCP, Overstock, etc....) had all the same ones!

  • This is more than you want to spend, but it will give you an idea of the frosted glass look (from Lowe's):

I like this idea, but if it were me, and I had the time, I would totally change out the paper based on seasons / moods / holidays. Easy way to change it up without having to do much.

As in the walls are red? Do you have an accent color? You could easily throw in a gray towel or two and get gray scrapbook paper. They have textured solid colors that I think would look great. Or a simple black and white pattern. Unless the idea just isn't your style, which is totally fine.
