Have you done your taxes yet?

I just sent out all of our paper work to our accountant.  I am so glad to have that task done.

Re: Have you done your taxes yet?

  • DH is a CPA, so I never have to even think about taxes.  It's pretty nice, not gonna lie :p

  • SO handles this. I'm not sure he is finished, but I know he has things pretty much worked out.

    That is nice!

  • Mostly. We just got notification that our investment tax stuff will be late (3/15), but our CPA has the rest of our stuff.

  • I always do ours on paper first to get an idea, but when I put the info into TaxAct I realized that this year we made over the amount where you can't claim all your PMI. Super boo. So now we have to pay. Needless to say I won't be "finishing" the taxes until April. Wink

  • Yes, I submitted them this week... I have had them all done for at least 3 weeks though. I love turbotax!
  • DH does ours. I know he started but he hasn't given me any totals yet so I don't think he has finished.
  • Yup, we did them online about a week and a half ago, and already got our state refund.  Ours are really easy, though, since we don't have kids or own a house.
  • Nope.  We pretty much always owe (that's the way I prefer it) and I usually have to wait for a document that always comes really late.  This all means that I almost never file before April.

  • We had ours done on Monday. I wouldn't mind doing them ourselves, but H likes to have them done by a local tax guy.

I remember this!  I hate when we owe.  We used to owe every year, and it would really really annoy me to write that check out.  We try to make it so we break even.

Yeah, making the payment is no fun but I just try to keep in mind the fact that, really, it's money I would have to pay regardless but I got to keep it and have it work for me all year long.

I like to look at it as a mandatory CD that matures every Spring. Minus the interest. LOL.

    Ah, but there's the rub!

I guess "forced savings" are good for some people, but really it doesn't work out that way for most.  So many people take their refunds and just view it as bonus spending money.  Sigh.
