I'm sure most of you are SO excited to hear about my first official day of my second job..
Well, let me tell you. The shoes they make you wear HURT. I tried to break them in before wearing them but nothing prepared me for how bad this little ball hurts the top of my foot.. Needless to say, i'm hoping my pants are long enough that they don't notice when I wear normal flats today.. and i'll probably wear. Luckily I didn't get any blisters but I can't wear those shoes for the second day in a row.
SEcond, I haven't had any other job besides my ft in like 6 years.. I forgot that hospitality type jobs attract the younger people.. they all thought i was 19, maybe 20.. because i'm short and apparently look young? lol. The mean age is probably 20. no joke. I felt old.
Third, it was a lot of fun, I learned a lot of stuff, but remembering table numbers when I actually have to walk there is hard! Lol.. It's so elementary but I like to be perfect so when I actually have to think about it for a second before I do it, I get sad! lol.
Fourth and final, I'm gonna stick it out. I hope that tonight I learn a lot more and get the table numbers and the hospitality words correct. I said you guys a couple times and that's a no no. So I hope I can remember those things. Oh, and they said I need to speak up.. I felt like I was yelling but I can TOTALLY speak up. ![]()
Otherwise, I got incredible feed back. They told me I picked everything so quickly, they felt like I really knew the table numbers (i took a quiz and got 100% but walking the guests back is another story!), and smiled a lot and did everything really well.
I'll probably delete this because I don't want anyone to read it that I work with and get offended or anything.. you can be fired from comments made online. BUt I just wanted you girls to know! ![]()
Sorry it was so long! ![]()
Re: f/u new job
I must have missed that you got a 2nd job. I knew you were considering it.
Anyway, it sounds like you are doing well, so give yourself a little learning curve. Don't get sad.
TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
also, i'd like to add that having 2 jobs is really hard.. last night i was scheduled off at 10, they had me stay until 1030. i wasn't mentally prepared for getting home at 11 and waking up at 517 to temp.. i slept in until 617 because i knew 5 was too early. lol. i seriously commend those who do it! bravo!
i'm hoping i can get used to it. my husband said i looked tired this morning.. this prompted me to get a venti skinny caramel macchiato this morning.. lol.

My Blog
I'm glad it went well and you plan to stick it out.
When I worked 2 + jobs, it took a little while to adjust, but then lack of sleep and dueling schedules was the norm, it felt strange when I had downtime.
Can I ask what shoes they make you wear? Uncomfortable shoes would piss me off if I were on my feet most of the time.
Good luck on your first Friday night!
I had to Google those shoes, they don't seem like they should be so terrible. Is it one specific style you have to wear or just that safety-kind so no slipping on stuff? And I don't think you said anything that was untoward or bad in your OP to worry that they would fire you for it.
You'll have to FB me where you got the job, I don't think I heard!
Congrats!! Working 2 jobs is hard, I remember doing that right after college - working temp M-F usually 7:30-5:30 availability and then Banana Republic 6 - close and weekends. "Luckily," I had no friends in the area and no life so it was doable, but still tiring and with no real reward play time.
oh, i don't think they would.. i jsut don't want any reason, lol.
also, i hear after you break them in over a couple weeks they are pretty comfortable but fall apart soon after that, lol. almost eVERYONE told me they were SOO bad at first.. i have a maryjane style one and there is this little ball thing that digs into my foot.. everything else is fine, the bottom of my feet don't hurt at all. i dunno, its weird. not wearing them today though so i don't get blisters from it rubbing on the part where it rubbed yesterday.
no one irl knows about my second job. i'll message you though.;)
