Where to Stay in Copenhagen?
Hi ladies! My husband and I are taking a Baltic cruise in May and will stay one night in Copenhagen. I'm looking for something reasonable (less than $250 a night or so), unless it is something amazing, and then we may rethink it. We definitely want to visit Tivoli Gardens, so a hotel/B&B close to that would be ideal. I know the Nimb is nice - but it is a bit out of our price range!

Re: Where to Stay in Copenhagen?
It's been about 10 years, but my BFF and I stayed with a Danish couple (recommended by Rick Steves...at least at the time, I don't have a current Denmark book). They have a website for a B&B now, and near Amalienborg Palace. It was clean, centrally located, and very reasonable in cost. Short walk to Nyhavn and Stroget.
Note: there was/is no elevator and you have to share the bathroom and toilet with whoever else is staying there (2 guest rooms). The Danish couple was very kind and responsive over email.

My BFF and I loved Tivoli Gardens. It was a fun diversion. Copenhagen was a beautiful city that we really enjoyed. I'd love to go back.
We did the Marriott which is about two or three blocks from Tivoli and it was nice with good views on the water. The one hotel we wanted skyrocketed before I could book it. I know some people who were on our cruise were able to get the Marriott for $120 a night through hotels.com or venere, so, you may want to look into that. I think we paid about $200 with breakfast. However, the fact that we got breakfast probably saved $50-$60 easily since Copenhagen was so expensive. If we go again, we'll pick the hotel we originally wanted just because it is right at the city center.
I loved Tivoli by the way and have some pictures in my blog below. We did a Baltic Cruise, so, I tried to highlight each of the ports that we stopped at on our trip. We cruised with Holland America and started in London (Dover) and ended in Copenhagen.
I went to Copenhagen and stayed at "The Square," a couple blocks from Tivoli. I believe I got a good deal through hotels.com but breakfast wasn't included. It was more of a modern hotel - I remember it being pretty luxurious for the cost -I thought we payed around $135 and the rooms were spacious, clean, and nicely decorated.
I loved Copenhagen.
You might keep an eye on the Nimb - DH and I stayed there (we actually got engaged there!) and I think they have one room (without a view over Tivoli) that can be pretty cheap. It's super centrally located so if you only have one night in Copenhagen it might be worth it if you can get their one inexpensive room (you also get free admission to Tivoli when you stay there).
Also, if you don't stay at the Nimb, make sure you go to Tivoli Gardens at night to see it all lit up - it's magical!
The Square is very conveniently located and you can get a room including breakfast. We just stayed there in December and enjoyed it very much.
We did a Baltic cruise out of Copenhagen in 2008 and stayed at The Square. We walked everywhere from there...we were close enough to the train station that we took the train from the airport into downtown, and were able to walk to the hotel in under 10 minutes. We were close to Tivoli and many other attractions.
THE SQUARE'S UNIQUE AND CENTRAL LOCATION IS CLOSE
TO THE PEDESTRIAN SHOPPING STREET "STROEGET",
TOWN HALL SQUARE AND RIGHT ACCOSS TIVOLI GARDENS.
