educate me on cruises please!
I've never been on one and my friends are trying to convince me. I just feel like it's so restricting and boring, and time consuming. Do they only cruise from one island to the next at night?
Plus I'm not on board about moving beds. Thinking about it makes me sick already.
Plus I don't care about the shows on board at night. If I want to see a show, I'll do so somewhere else, not while I'm on vacation. I also don't care about access to food 24hours.
Please tell me why you like cruises if you like them. TIA!
Re: educate me on cruises please!
They're not for everyone. I used to love love love them and say there was nothing like cruising, but now after my 4th, I'm done.
I don't like being on a schedule for everything, and after a while, I get bored with the same walking path around the ship (from room to dinner to deck to casino, rinse and repeat). I didn't like how there might be two or more things I wanted to do that ran all at the same time, so I missed things. I didn't like how crowded the pools were.
What I did love was being able to eat whenever I wanted, and trying new things without wasting money. I also loved seeing snippets of new places. I'm going back to Key West soon for a few days because I loved it so much, and never would have known I loved it if not for cruising, because it's not somewhere I'd just pick to go to. I do like the Vegas style shows, because I've never been to Vegas, and I think they're fun. I like being able to dress up for dinner, and then go back to the room to change before my next to-do. That's not really very feasible if you're driving to a restaurant.
I don't mind dealing with luggage from city to city. We travel light and each of us only have a small carry on and a handbag.
I like exploring the city.
I do like dressing up for dinners too but I don't mind walking.
I guess I like some sponteneity in the trip and a set schedule on cruise just turns me off.
Thanks so much for sharing!
You can have spontaneity and options on a cruise. We didnt even have time to do/eat all the things we wanted to. Well, to be honest, we have only been on one cruise and we typically do all those other things you mentioned that you enjoy on our other trips. I was afraid I wouldn't like it either because I thought it would be cheesy, cheap, full of boring old ppl, etc. but I think it depends on your itinerary and what company/ship you choose. I also think it would be good for a group trip because it's all inclusive but you have more options than a resort in Mexico or Jamaica. But I've never gone on a vacation I didn't like!
