Mel Gibson invited to Whitney Houston's "homegoing" service

Mel Gibson was invited to Whitney Houston's "home going" service (they're not calling it a funeral), but he cannot attend.  Apparently, he tried to help Whitney at the darkest time in her life when she was going through the lowest point of drug and alcohol use.  This comes from TMZ.

Will you listen to the funeral?  I probably won't, but I feel bad for this whole thing.  I remember her early in her career when things were going well for her.  I bought "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and listened to it all the time for a few months in 1990/1991.  I listened to a few of those songs for the first time in years last night and was very touched.  I found the news of her death absolutely shocking when I saw it on CNN Sunday morning.

Re: Mel Gibson invited to Whitney Houston's "homegoing" service

  • I'm glad Mel can't make it.

I will watch online tomorrow. Very big Whitney fan here. Her music was sprinkled into various moments of my life over many years.

  • I don't think I'll watch. Although I know that her many fans and others who would want to be there but can't will be able to see it and pay respects in a sense, there is still something about publicizing/filming funerals that just doesn't feel right to me. Is this common to have funerals broadcasted for famous people? I've been trying to google it and all I can find is JFK's funeral.
