BR Poll - Laundry detergent

I recently discovered on the mommies board for my sorority that many of the moms there do not use a baby laundry detergent.  It got me wondering what you ladies use.  [Poll]

Re: BR Poll - Laundry detergent

  • we use tide free and clear, we used tide before so it is the same price.  I do miss the tide smell but our clothes are just as clean so it makes no difference.  i also use baby Oxi-Clean

  • When Julia was a newborn we used Dreft. Then we moved to a free & clear & used it on all our laundry. Now we use whatever is one sale, preferably a free & clear, but hatever is cheapest. None of us have ever had a reaction to any of the detergents so we don't worry to much about it anymore. I do use Dreft stain remover, it works wonders on our clothes!

  • We use Allen's Naturally, which is an all natural laundry soap. It's safe to use on cloth diapers, and gentle (like baby detergent), so we use it on all her things.
  • I'm an awful mom who is planning to use Tide. I normally make my own detergent, but then DH broke my food processor so I haven't been able to do that in a long time. If she doesn't like the Tide, I have a large batch of homemade CD soap whipped up that I'm sure will be just fine!

  • I should have answered SS.  We started with Free and Clear when each was a newborn.  We bought one jug and when it was gone we switched to whatever we were using for the house.  We found out pretty quickly that if LO had a sensitivity it would have been obvious from the get-go since each one spent so much time snuggling on our clothes that were washed in regular detergent.

  • We use rockin green soft rock for everything ( cd her clothes ours and dog stuff)
  • It cracks me up because most people who use Dreft want it because it's "best" for baby, but it's actually full of dyes and perfumes. And IMO, it's totally overpriced.

With Taryn, we just used whatever was cheapest in the "Free and Clear" variety--usually Purex--then we switched to what we were using because she obviously wasn't having a reaction to mine and DH's clothes. I've been using what we use on Tessa, scented and all, and she's had no problems with it.

  • I chose SS because my answer includes two of the options.  We use the perfume/dye free Arm & Hammer or Tide (depending on what is on sale) for Sawyer's stuff, but that's what we've also always used for ours.

  • We use Mrs. Meyers Baby Blossom detergent for clothes and bedding and then Charlie's for the CDs.

  • I use Dreft for Logan and Lincoln's clothes. I love the smell of their fresh clean clothes! I use Gain for the rest of the house b/c our dermatologist told us to avoid TIDE with Lily's skin issues!
Finally a Mrs as of June 7, 2008
