Toy Suggestions

I'm looking for something that T can play with on the plane (3 hour flight) and also for her 2nd birthday.

I'm pretty sure she's ready for Playdoh so I will probably get something for that.  Other suggestions?

Re: Toy Suggestions

  • James adores books- something with open the flaps or pop up or lots of detailed pictures might kill 20 minutes on a plane. Or what about a Magnadoodle type product with a connected pen that can be used over and over?

  • Our biggest hits have been stickers, videos on a laptop or iphone, and snacks. And everything in the seat pocket. Lily LOOOOOVES playdoh, but, in our case, it might be a bit too much "stuff" for the plane because Lily likes to use all the different cookie cutters and stuff.

Haha! DH was thinking this same thing for the plane.  He thinks less is more.  We will have the tablet/phones with us, along with snacks and a few books.  She loves her shape sorter so I think that is a "for sure" item.  Just wasnt sure what else we could get in the carryon that was quiet and considerate for other folks on the plane.  For playdoh, I'm thinking just a small container (no accessories) but for birthday, we'll get her some.

She has a mr. and mrs. potatohead so maybe those can come along too

  • Riley went nuts for painters tape, that was a suggestion I got at moms group. You can stick it anywhere in anything since it's designed to not really adhere. I made tabs on the trays, wrapped up my hand and had her unwrap it, and just let her stick it all over the seat. Our flights were only an hour a piece, but that, the snacks, and Peek A Boo Barn on the iPad were more than enough to get us through.

  • Great post and suggestions!  We will have a five hour flight, plus down and back to Boston on the bus in a few weeks, so this is helpful.

Add some of those free address labels you get in the mail.  Those will take some time.

I made a quiet book (will blog about that this week)...but I'm sure you can find something similar at Barnes and Nobles...like one with zippers and such.  We just got a book with 12 little tiny trucks at B&N for $10 that will come on the plane.  And I really like the paperback Usborne books, because they have flaps, the stories are good and there's a duck hidden on every page.  We take a long time going through those.  I may bring our old faves and buy one or two to take along too.

  • Leah loves stickers so we bought her a small notebook with a bunch of stickers and she made her own book! When she was done with those stickers she could "read" it and even add more stickers! She also likes her dry erase board but we bought her the dry erase crayons instead of the markers since she went through a phase of writing on her hands.
