If you observe Lent...

Whatcha giving up?  How about your DH?

This year I am giving up all nuts including peanut butter, and I'm also going to give up impulse purchases... if it's not on a predetermined list of things I plan to buy at any given store, it's not going into my cart.  I think the nut thing is going to be really hard since I eat a PB&J pretty much daily, my favorite snack is mixed nuts, and all my favorite salads, candies and desserts seem to have nuts.

DH is giving up ranch dressing and ice cream, two staples in his diet.  He's one of those people who puts ranch on EVERYTHING.

Married in 2008 - DD born in 2010 - EDD 6.15.2012!

Re: If you observe Lent...

  • I haven't been to church for forever...when does it start?  Is it really time already?!?

  • I have no idea. I was thinking soda and coffee, but that can't happen with the way my girls sleep, or don't for that matter. I'll have to think on it.

Amanda, Ash Wednesday is this week.

  • I'm not Catholic, but I still like the idea of giving up something and testing my determination and will power.  Last year I gave up chocolate... wasn't really hard because I don't eat much chocolate.  If I really wanted to test myself I'd give up coffee... but I'm afraid I'll be too miserable if I do.  I'm still thinking about what I could give up this year....  DH already said he is going to give up m&ms because apparently he eats 2 bags every day while at work!!
  • Soda. I wasn't a soda drinker before but since now having a gas station directly in front of where I work, Mountain Dew became a daily weekday staple.

Rob says he is giving up soda, fast food and chips. He says this about every two weeks....

  • I am giving up the television, unless major world events or serious weather occurs. I did this kast year succesfully, but it was freakin harMike will give up spop, but that never works out well for him.
