My husband and I are expecting our first baby in July and are thinking of taking a vacation in the next few months. We think Sedona would be an awesome place! Has anyone been there? Any suggestions for places to stay, eat, visit, etc? We've saved quite a bit and since this is our last trip for a while, we don't mind spending some $$. Also, is the Grand Canyon within driving distance?
Thank you!
Re: Babymoon in Sedona, AZ
Do Pink Jeep!!! It was awesome! I also stayed at Sedona Rouge and really liked it. It was too cold for us to use the pool but it looked nice enough. I also liked that they had a fireplace in the room.
Not that I imagine you are going to Sedona for a rocking nightlife but it its worth mentioning that there is not a lot going on at night in Sedona in my experience.
We stayed at Amara in Sedona and loved it. Def. do the Pink Jeep tour! I think i still have PIB of both. We were only there one night but had a great meal at the Cowboy Club, it's right in the main downtown area (walking distance from the hotel). The GC is pretty close as well.

Sedona is a beautiful place. H and I were just there a few weeks ago (we just stopped for lunch on our way to the Grand Canyon) and H has been on a jeep tour (not Pink Jeep, the one he did, they actually got to drive the Jeeps themselves) for work a few months ago. I've never stayed at a hotel there since we are relatively local, but I know there's a lot of good resorts there.
I think from Sedona to the Grand Canyon was about a 2 - 3 hour drive, so it's definitely doable for a day trip, and it's a really pretty drive between Sedona and Flagstaff.
I also recommend the Amara. Beautiful hotel.
We did the Pink Jeep tour and had a blast. They wouln't allow pregnant women on the tour that we did, although I believe there are other tours that are less intense.
If you like shopping, I recommend Tlaquepaque. It's a lovely place to wander.
I would also try to get to the Grand Canyon if you can. It's truly amazing.
I just went to Sedona for 4 nights last month and it was great!!! So beautiful and lots of great, non-strenuous hiking trails. We stayed at the Hilton, which was great, but little bit out of town (about a 10-15 min drive into the main town area). However the drive is incredibly scenic and breathtaking!
For dining, I highly recommend Cafe Elote for dinner, as well as Cucina Rustica. We also liked the Coffee Pot Restaurant for breakfast- they have 101 omelets!
Definitely take a day and drive to the Grand Canyon. It is a 2 hour drive and so worth it! We stayed until the evening and had an excellent dinner at El Tovar Lodge, inside the park. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time.
Hope that helps!
We stayed at the Southwest Inn at Sedona, very nice boutique style hotel with amazing views of the red rocks, good breakfast included too (www.swinn.com).
Definitely make the drive to see the Grand Canyon, it's absolutely stunning, a must see for everyone.
