It's Friday, Friday...

What are you ladies all doing this weekend?

Tonight I am going to DH's, Dental school formal which they have cleverly named the Mandiball (like Mandible...your jaw....oh haha!). It's a masquerade...so I need to put the finishing touches on our masks this afternoon, and then we're off!

Tomorrow night we are going out to dinner with my family because my Aunt and Uncle are coming in from out of town.  Oh! And tomorrow morning I have brunch with some girl friends.  But that's it for the rest of my weekend.

Re: It's Friday, Friday...

  • Today was a CRAZY day at school....there were 3 subs (including me) upstairs in 8th grade today- and the one in the room next to me couldn't handle the kids (This is the school where I did the 2 long terms). 8 kids were depants in gym, and a fight (with blood and broken glasses) also happened in gym.  I'm going to try to convince DH to stop and get me a bottle of wine.

Tomorrow, I teach CCD in the morning, and then during the afternoon I am going to my mom's because we're going to learn how to make homemade pierogies using my great-grandma's recipe.

Sunday, we are going to my parents' house for dinner with my siblings and grandparents.

Monday, going to the field museum with a friend since both of our districts have the day off.

This is awesome. I learned how to make pierogi from scratch from my Great-grandma (kind of, I used to help her pinch them when i was small, had to learn from my mom when I was a teenager) and we always make them for dinner on Christmas Eve. Enjoy!!

We have....nothing this weekende. We are boring =P

For my entire life (minus the year my great-grandpa died) we've had Busha's pierogi on Christmas Eve. She's in her 90s now, and none of her kids will help her make them anymore and it's too much for her to make on her own :( So for the past few years, she makes a small batch and then we get fast food fried chicken. It's not the same.  My mom mentioned wanting to help but that it would be a lot of work for one person, so I volunteered. Unfortunately my Busha won't be joining us tomorrow, but I know how excited she will be about nixing the fried chicken this year on Christmas Eve!

  • I love learning family recipes!

I have no idea what we are doing this weekend.  I need to write a research paper by the end of the month for school and I am hoping to make good progress.  Other than that, no idea and I love it!  We've been really busy and I know I am looking forward to relaxing some this long weekend!

  • We went to see a band on Friday night.  Most of yesterday I spent going through boxes in the basement that I never unpacked.  I'll be doing more of the same today!  Last night we went out for my BIL's birthday-  we had fun!  Today, like I said,  more sorting through old crap.  Hopefully finishing that so I can spend my time painting the hallway and bathroom over the next few weekends!

What kind do you make? Traditionally we make potato and cheese, but we've also experimented with apricot, sausage and one year my DH and I (the first year we were married and spent Christmas just the 2 of us) put bacon in with the potato & cheese filling, yum!

We made potato, cheese, meat (turkey sausage), and sauerkraut. My favorites are the potato & cheese! In the past I know there's also been prune.
