So there is a person on my team who works really hard, wants to make it to Kona, awesome cyclist, blah, blah, blah. Last year this person was injured and couldn't do a lot of the things they needed to do in order to train properly. This person did a sprint tri relay with me and another team member. It was so fun! We ended up getting first for relay teams.
Today, I asked this person if they would be interested in doing another one this summer since it was so fun. I reiterrated like three times "just for fun". And they said in a kind of snarky way " I have so many goals this summer, I don't think I could make that another!" I thought to myself this is maybe 20 minutes of your life... for fun. And they made a really weird face that seemed like they were above and beyond a sprint tri relay.
I was really irritated by the reaction and I feel the same way as this person in a sense. No this race is not going to be my "A" race, but we had so much fun last year, why not do it again? I just didn't like the "I'm better than that" attitude.
The other person that was on the relay team and I were talking about who else could do it with us, because it's obvious that the other person is not wanting to do it with us this year!
Vent over!! Thanks!
