any hotel recs for Arenal area in CR?
Re: any hotel recs for Arenal area in CR?
A lot of people on here recommend Arenal Nayara, but we stayed there on our honeymoon and had several disappointing mishaps so I wouldn't recommend it.
I can't speak firsthand but we heard great things from other travelers about the Springs and Arenal Observatory Lodge, and they have good reviews on Trip Advisor. If we ever go back I think we'll try out the Arenal Observatory Lodge because the rooms have great views of the active side of the volcano.
Despite the hotel in Arenal, we loved the area and had a great time in CR. We did a lot of excursions so if you need ideas or recs just let me know.
Same. We were very disappointed with Nayara, particularly given all the hype surrounding it.
Last year my friend and I stayed at Kokoro Arenal.
The grounds were beautiful and the hotel was in a good location but we did have a few issues with their customer service. It was $125 per night but had we stayed 4 nights the fourth night would have been free. I have a review of the hotel in my travel blog here: http://wanderlusttraveler.blogspot.com/2011/05/la-fortuna-and-arenal-costa-rica.html
We just returned from CR yesterday and had an amazing time!
We actually stayed at Nayara and had an amazing experience with no concerns what so ever. We found the service to be excellent and the rooms were amazing. We have traveled pretty extensively and were very impressed with the quality of the room for the price.
The grounds are really beautiful with amazing views of the volcano and top notch customer service. We were approached several times by various members of the management if we had any concerns or questions about anything.
The construction that there are some complaints about on Trip Advisor has been completed and the new sushi bar is quite good with a lovely outdoor patio.
We really could not say enough good things about our experience at Nayara and wished we could have stayed a little longer.
We've stayed in La Fortuna a few times and our favorite hotel by far has been Silencio del Campo.
If you plan on staying at a hotel that is not all inclusive, I HIGHLY recommend Don Ruffinos for dinner. It is our favorite restaurant in Costa Rica.
