Re: **GOZF**

  • Aw, you're sweet to check up!

It went really, really well, as far as I'm concerned.  His parents were really warm and easy to talk to.  Dad was a little silly, mom less so, but they were both really great -- they instantly put me at ease.  And the food!  Holy crap.  Appetizers were homemade bruschetta, smoked salmon and trout on little toasts with horseradish sauce, sweet peppers stuffed with goat cheese and olives.  Dinner was glazed ham, homemade mac and cheese and steamed broccoli.  Strawberry layer cake with whipped cream icing for dessert.  They went all out.

We arrived at 7:30 and stayed until 11:30.  I really enjoyed myself, and I got the sense that they did too.  I've not gotten any feedback -- he hasn't spoken with them yet -- but I'll be very surprised if it's not good.

As a semi-interesting aside, he and I went to the museum yesterday to see an exhibit, where we ran into a bunch of his aunts and uncles.  It was the weekend of familial introductions!

So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

  • Yay!  I'm so glad to hear everything went well.  I've been wondering how it went.
The day I left was just my beginning.

And I'm wondering how your Friday night turned out!

  • Glad that it went well!! Sounds like they are good people and that you had a great time Yes
