traveling with a 10 month old?

We live in MD and want to go on vacation next January (the best time for both of our works) but this will be our first trip with an infant. Where would you recommend we go or what to look for? Any thoughts?

Thank Ladies

Re: traveling with a 10 month old?

  • Anywhere really. We've been traveling with DD since she was 4 months old (week-long road trip). They get more challenging as toddlers, but it's still manageable. What sorts of places did you have in mind?

  • Originally I was thinking Orlando, because we have been there before, we know the area. My parents could be convinced to go to (who doesnt love baby sitters) but, and this might be crazy, I was just looking at Jackson Hole and well I think that would be a great vacation spot! DH and I have always wanted to go there. Ever been? Any thoughts? We would fly (I hate car trips!) so thats a new concern...

  • Anywhere. The only issue we had was sleep when traveling but he's okay in bed with us. The last trip, he rocked his PnP after the first night.

Jackson Hole would be fun, you could ski and pull your LO in a trailer behind you. FUN!

Orlando would be fun too, the beach is fun at that age.

  • I wish I did more traveling before my kids could walk!  So my vote is anywhere too as long as a stroller can get around.  Enjoy!  Before they can walk and talk is when you should do it!
  • Anywhere the adults want to go at that age. We've taken ds to San Francisco, Chicago, Mexico cruise, Alaskan cruise...

  • Definitely anywhere.  Babies are much easier to travel with than toddlers (though our toddler has done plenty of travel too)!  We've taken our kids to Rhode Island; Vancouver, B.C.; Texas; Paris; London; Scotland; Germany; Italy; and soon they'll both go to Istanbul!

  • I think Orlando is a great place to take a baby, as long as you're open to being flexible. We are taking practically the same trip (age of baby with grandparents) and I'm really looking forward to it.
