Oh, anticipation...

So I've made it no secret that Jax was kind of a temporary place for DH and I. He's now in the process of applying for jobs, and it has got my poor little brain going a mile a minute. We've applied to jobs all over geographically (North and East of the Mississippi/Mason-Dixon Line) in all different capacities (assistant at major D1 universities, head at D2 collges). We are being picky, and only applying to jobs and places we'd really want, so it's exciting... but the controlling part of me is going crazy! I am looking at houses, jobs for me, and daycares in all of these cities when in reality, none of them could even offer him an interview... Gah, these next few months are going to be hard and nerve-wracking.

wow! That does sound crazy-making, but I hope it all works out! When do they usually make decisions for those types of roles? I know there are summer sports, so it must not be toooo long from now, right?

How nerve-racking and exciting all at once. Sounds like me! haha I've been researching areas where DH applies as well. Why the change? Is he just looking to take the next step in his career, or are you looking to move in general? I'm just curious.

Most ATC's work on August 1-July 31 contracts as the school year runs that way. Some jobs are new, so they're posted now The others are because people are leaving the job and have told them already. However, most jobs usually don't open and get posted until May/June when they have to renew their contracts... so the fact that he's applied to 5 already is great b/c it's still pretty early in the season. His profession is awesome in that it's small and specific, so all jobs are posted on one specific website.

He's in an entry level position with really no room for growth. Also, we aren't crazy about his commute, salary, and the future of the Athletic Training program there.

We also want to be closer, if possible, to my family.

Gotcha. I wish you guys luck! It sounds like you have a good handle on it. And that's nice that you are able to search in specific areas you want. I can certainly understand wanting to be closer to your family. That's a nice benefit in addition to finding a shorter commute, better salary, etc.

I can only imagine how you're feeling now! It's exciting and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you end up somewhere fabulous. What are your plans for your house here? Are you selling it?

Yup, and hopefully we won't lose too much money. I wish we never would have bought a house when we moved here, but we really didn't understand all the ramifications of buying a house and trying to sell in 3 years.
