Hospital clothes/coming home outfit

It's slow, so whatevs.

I have been annoyed because I cannot find any decent nightgowns for the hospital. And I plan to wear pants home, but it's such a pain to wear pants while you are there. I found some nursing tanks that seem ok, so I think I am just going to buy a couple of stretchy skits. Why do the freaking gowns have to be mini dresses? Why do I have to be so tall.

If any recent preggosauruses (shout out to moo) have found any longer gowns, help me out.

I am contemplating buying a very frilly girly dress in case this is a girl. This is Duckis fault after seeing her pic of the cute frilly going home outfit. We just had a rockstar onesie for Dagger but I knew he was a boy so I was cool with that. I want a dainty dress for a girl. This is silly I know.

Re: Hospital clothes/coming home outfit

  • I forget, do you have to have a c-section?

I wore yoga pants and a nursing tank the second day in the hospital and found them very comfy, but if you have to have a c-section I could see how the pants would be uncomfortable.

  • No, and I hope not to have one. But I had a tear with Dagger and so they monitored that a lot while I was there and pants would have just been a pain to have to pull down each time.
  • What, no horizontal striped spandex mini dress for you?

I've been looking for something, but haven't had any luck.  My sister loaned me two nursing nightgowns that are so comfy.  I want to wear those, but I know she wants stuff back, and...ew.  If I come up with any good options, I'll be sure to share.

  • Ah. That would be annoying. I don't think they checked anything down there after the first day.
  • Long Sleeve V-neck...
This looks cute and comfy.  Looks like it's on motherhood.com

  • boxer, now I understand why she wore that. It's about all they have out there. And some look like lingerie. I just want a comfy gown that easily accesses my boobs dammit.
  • It isn't showing up on there coley. I think I had seen it before though somewhere like resale on ebay but the problem was that the gown underneath the robe was still really short.

Reading the reviews on motherhood everyone comments how it is shorter than they thought. And I am 6 feet tall, so that espeially worries me.

  • I don't think a dainty dress for a little girl is silly.  It's sweet.  Now if you wanted to put her in velour track suit with "Juicy" on the ass, I'd think that was silly.

  • I got a cute nightgown/robe set from my mom but its very short and I'm 5'7. When jo was about 6 weeks old I went to Sears and bought 2 longish short sleeved nightgowns that buttoned down the front. They were not maternity but worked just fine. I'd try that route!

  • I wore giant sweatpants & the nursing tanks from target the entire time I was there. I had a nice maternity/nursing nightgown that I think I wore once when I came home.

  • Maybe something like this?

  • those are pantaloons right?

Good Idea on the button down gowns, lanie. I will check those out.

the other one boxer linked could work, but i still worry it's too short. I am skeptical that that model is 6 foot tall and that's already knee length.

  • I also had this one in black-

I didn't poke around to see if Aimee has it's own site or other colors or whatever on amazon. I just went back into my orders and this page came up. But it was a good brand.

  • Oh, they do- and my dress was really long.

  • I just got a nightgown that buttoned at the front for easy nursing, but thanks to my ICU stay ended up stuck in the hospital gown the whole time. I didn't really mind, though, because I was bleeding EVERYWHERE and it was nice not having to worry about washing them out when I got home.
  • You happen to be in luck. There have been several posts about this very topic on the April board lately. This one is my favorite because it's so special.

I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • I wore nursing tanks with a robe and cotton PJ pants the whole time with both kids. I was always cold in the hospital so I preferred pants, and they really didn't mess with my crotch after the first 12 hours. I wanted junky stuff I didn't care if I bled all over.

I had this cute little overall outfit with yellow flowers and little lambs on it to bring maggie home in, and she came home in a gown since she was so tiny. Owen I didn't even bother. Carter's onesie, boyyyyy.  ;-)

  • I had the cutest outfits picked out for the girls to wear home but I didn't take into account that they would need premie clothes so they just came home in something my mom ran out and got them.  I don't even remember what it was.
