Nightmares

I feel like I'm 5 years old again, but for the past week or so I've been having horrific nightmares. And not even just one, but multiple nightmares in one night. It's never been the same dream or the same theme, but I wake up freaked out and agitated and it's hard to go back to sleep.

Anyone know of any cures for nightmares?

Re: Nightmares

  • don't eat icecream before bed??

i don't know.. are you watching scary movies? is something bothering you? i hate nightmares and i'm sorry you're having them! watch a happy movie before bed.. or think happy thoughts? i know no real remedies but maybe?

  • Haha, is ice cream before bed supposed to give you nightmares? I hate scary movies, so I wouldn't watch them anyway.

There is some stuff that's going on, but I wouldn't think that it would give me nightmares.

Maybe I should read a funny book before bed or something...

  • whatever is going on, i'm sorry! i hope it gets better soon.

a funny book is a great idea! i rec the chelsea handler books. unless youd on't like her. i thought they were hilarious!

  • ((hugs!!)) I hate nightmares!

Ditto the rec for a funny book, or just something generally happy/positive. I try to make sure I'm not watching anything too serious on tv anytime before bed, but sometimes after a really stressful day the nightmares hit regardless of what I do. Oh, and sometimes a shoulder or foot run from H helps too :) Hope they go away soon!!

  • Anxiety can cause nightmares, so if could be stress surrounding your family's possible move that's causing them. Try deep breathing, yoga, walking, a hot shower, tea, etc. (whatever might slow and calm your thoughts) before bed.

  • I'm in the same boat. I've been having them pretty much every night for about a month now and I'm seriously wiped out. If you're dealing with stressors, try journaling about it; that might at least lessen the frequency. Otherwise, just keep to lighthearted/funny things before bed. Hope they ease up for you soon!

  • When I worked for a movie theater I would sometimes have to screen really scary movies, by myself, at two am.... Any way, I would always watch Sponge Bob before bed to help me get back to a normal state of mind.

It was. I tried to avoid it if I could. Of course my coworkers would try to come in and scare me too. I am still terrified of the grudge. It was the worst movie ever to have to screen by myself and I did it in a 600 seat empty auditorium.
