BR: BFing AW

We've been EBFing for 24 hours now!! I am SO happy. I was having to nurse A (who has nursed fine from the get-go), try to nurse D (who was tube and bottle fed in the NICU so never really tried until we got home), then finish D's feeding with a bottle then pump. Phew- it was exhausting and I was over it. Well, D apparently has the hang of it now because we have been bottle free and formula free since yesterday morning!

Now if I could only figure out how to feed them at the same time... :)

  • Yay! Good job mama!

I have no first hand experience, obviously, but have you tried holding them in the football hold to nurse at the same time?

  • You are amazing! I can imagine it would be tough had things started "normally" but to fight back from a rough start- you are a rock star. I think I remember you saying both girls were back up to birth weight so hopefully things will just get easier from here! Good luck getting them eating together!

  • Yay!  I'm so glad Delaney figured it out!  I'm sure you'll be a tandem nursing pro in no time!

  • I am just so proud of my girls! And myself... cause let me tell you, formula (especially ready to feed!) is EASY compared to the battle we've had the last week. :) But, it is also expensive, haha.

MrsG, I have one of those giant twin nursing pillows and I was actually able to tandem feed them for about 10 minutes last night in the football hold but I had a lot of help from DH. They just don't have the neck/jaw strength to stay latched yet plus my boobs are really just too heavy for them without me supporting them. Ah well, hopefully within the next month or so we'll get the hang of it!

  • Yes  If DH was there, he would hold the first one's head while I got the second on, then I held both of their heads. I had to use the nipple shields to get them to latch if I was alone for a few weeks. With the shields, I could just hold their heads and they would latch themselves.

This made me LOL.  I know I only nursed for a week but my boobs were bigger than her entire head and used to feel like I was suffocate her.  Stupid big boobies :)

Woohoo!! So happy it's working out, Tiff!

And, I give you big-boobed ladies mad props. I'm just average sized and my boobs were bigger that Neena's head when she was born, so I can only imagine how crazy it must be for your gals!

No kidding.. I am still on the hunt for a nursing bra that will actually fit. I ordered a 34 H/I last week... nope, still too small. I have a 34 J/K on the way and I don't know what I'll do if that doesn't fit. I haven't been able to find anything bigger.

report back, please!! I'm living in my sleep bras and they are too tight. It might be nice to have something that actually fits when I leave the house.
