Will you give something up for Lent?

If so, what?

Re: Will you give something up for Lent?

  • I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to stick to it but I'm going to attempt to give up chocolate. Ever since I started to go to the gym last month, I have been very good with my food choices. I use to drink a coffee w/ sugar each morning & a coke in the afternoon. I have cut out the coke and now take my coffee w/ Splenda. So, the only sugar I have been having is the natural sugar in my morning fruits.

  • My plan is fast food. I'm not counting Starbucks or McDonalds Coffee in that or Sonic Limeades, just food.

  • I'm not Catholic, so probably not. I thought about giving up buying makeup and nail polish, but then I realized I'm supposed to be on a spending freeze anyway. Fail.
  • probably not.  I used to, but lately they've all been diet or exercise related or whatever, which isn't really the point.

I've been trying to be better about not eating out for lunch during the week (at least M-Th).  I might stick even closer to that and then take that ~$6 per week and donate it to our church or something.  It's not a lot, but I feel like that's more in the spirit of sacrifice than something diet related.

(not judging or criticizaing those who are doing something diet related, promise!  I've done it the past few years, if it's a reason to kick start being healthy, nothing wrong with that!  I think I'm just thinking about it differently this year.)
